playing online

am i not able to play vanilla rtw online because i have this mod installed?? i recently found my cd key and want to play online but every game says its not compatible! this is on vanilla rtw, not the modded version.

I'm sorry, I have no idea how the online system works. It shouldn't, since it doesn't replace anything in your main directory. Anyone know which files it does a checksum of before you play?

You should be able, I can play online witht he vainilla game and any other game. You just need to be sure to have the same install or patch. You can also play ExRm online but need to be sure you have the same version, everything exact so as you see it is a bit hard to play online with mods.

i have rtw gold patched to 1.6. i tried on rtw and BI and niether one will let me play because my game "is not compatible" with other games?

You need to re patch to 1.5

In some RTW Gold editions, after installing BI, RTW reverts back to 1.3

still doesn't work. tried restarted as suggested in a topic i posted in the online foum with no luck. i guess ill try a clean install, see if it works, then install exrm and see if it still works.

Suggestion: Make 2 copies of you RTW Vainilla Files, one where you install the mods and the other so you don't have to reinstall.

i haven't had a chance to do a clean install yet. hopefully will get to do it tomorrow. thanks for the idea of making the copy! i'll post my results here. hopefully its just something dumb i did the first time i installed exrm.

success! did a clean install and everything works great! my tag online is ZealotsACH btw if anyone sees me and wants to play a ExRM match.
