    Considering it's a channel 4 documentary, and they normally involve themselves with shite like Big Brother, It's actually a better documentary than I thought it would be. There are some very well respected historians and it covers Cromwell's life from long before the war right up until his death.

    It debunks some of the myths about his Irish campaign and shows a humorous side to Oliver that most other sources have ignored.

    How about all these video links in one thread for ease of access, and to enlighten the curious?

    JaM, I second your post... battlefield britain is a great series!!!
    You have to watch it in better quality than your link however.... their is a lot of detail missing from the battle scenes at that quality.

    Germanicus has that series got any good battlescenes in it?

    By the Sword Divided is a BBC production and though it is not an epic style drama its battles sequences are good an realistic to standard of its production.
    The acting is excellent and the story a very well written.

    Devil's Whore is a good one as well as To Kill a King and of course Richard Harris' "Cromwell" but these are films :s
