Will the dwarven axe throwers have alot of ammo or will they be more like the Frankish axe throwers in Rome- BI where they will do most fighting hand to hand?

And will they be able to effectively throw the axes over the heads of there own troops if they stand behind them?

They're not in KK barracks/stables/archery range list in the dev forum.
Also, the first post in the dwarves preview says that they are exclusive mercenaries.

But don't you agree that they should be mercenary units?

I don't agree. The add them to unit list cause dwarves don't have cavalry and archers. As mercenaries anyone could recruit them as I know.

They weren't really Mercenaries, they were close allies, it's the same with most of the Byzantine units that are part of there roster.

I think you can make mercenaries character exclusive. Also, I think that fits better, because then you'd have to send an emissary (read "general") to Dale in order to aquire Dale soldiers.

If so, it would need to have a very low recruitment pool and replenishing rate. It's not like Dale has infinite numbers of men to spare.

If well balanced, particulary with unique ballista, crossbowmen and axethrowers (+their impressive infantry of course) i think that dwarves do not need cavalry to be balanced.

One of the biggest aspects of cavalry is not only flanking but running down routing enemy's, as far as field battles go cavalry charging flanks is primarily what secures victories, I don't think that they can manage without cavalry unless they have obscenely powerful other troops, try fighting a M2tw battle without cavalry and you'll know the frustration. I can see very little ways to make them even close to balanced in the field without cavalry, unless they have siege equipment like the Mongols- Heavens wrath Mortar from the Mongolphobia mod, which works similar to mangonel and I used 19 of in one battle and killed a whole 20 stack of enemy's to 98% dead in one shot from them and lagged up the game with the explosions!

why do you say that? it wouldn`t fit with dwarven warfare.
besides, they must have some weakiness, don`t you think?

well infantry(like scots) usually have the enemy routing quickly, im not sure why but if you make the dwarves like the mini-tanks they are, im sure that cavalry will have problems doing much damage after the initial charge

Agreed, cavalry and flanking is hardly a way to secure victory. I usually concentrate on archers and infantry devastating the enemy with very little cavalry. Faster foot troops can sustain the enemy rout, and precise unique long range artillery can keep fire on them as they rout for some time to ensure they continue running. If u remember the caridge ballistae from BI u know what powerful artillery means.
