OK I think we got "the picture"

Cumans seem to be related to Mongols unless I've gotten the wrong impression, wouldn't a good compromise be to give the Cumans the Mongol names from the game? It would not be totally accurate but close?

As to the faces, armor, etc. I think you could work on the models, or find someone who can and is willing in the modding forums. Once made it is easy to include them.

I gotta say that if I where to make new unit models right now Cumans is far from the top list no matter how much there have been spamming about it of late. They are not the faction that needs most skinning attention and statistic shows they are the faction less people play.

What about you make the models yourself? It seem you have the right motivation.

Boztorgai_Khan, I also love these types of horse culture nomads in throughout history, Sarmatia, Scythia, Mongols ect. I wanted your input, non game related, about the Kipchaks and the Krygyz. Are they the same peoples? I can not find any references about this and I am a long time fan/casual researcher of the 40 tribes of Kagan Barsbek's Kyrgyz, if you have information dealing with this send me a pm or whatever please.

Maybe this can help you ?

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The modern Northwestern Turkic languages are named after the Kipchaks. Some of the descendants of the Kipchaks are now known as Siberian Tatars, Nogays, Bashkirs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, Tatars (partly), Crimean Tatars (partly).

Kipchaks have transformed, to a degree, into modern Kazakh and Kyrgyz populations. Kipchak is the name of a tribe within the Middle Juz of the Kazakh people, as well as the name of a Kyrgyz tribe within modern-day Kyrgyzstan.

There is also a village named 'Kipchak' in Crimea.

The Cumans were nomadic warriors of the Eurasian steppe who exerted an enduring impact on the medieval Balkans. The basic instrument of Cuman political success was military force, which none of the warring Balkan factions could resist. As a consequence, groups of the Cumans settled and mingled with the local population in various regions of the Balkans. The Cumans were the founders of three successive Bulgarian dynasties (Asenids, Terterids, and Shishmanids), and the Wallachian dynasty (Basarabids). They also played an active role in Byzantium, Hungary, and Serbia, with Cuman immigrants being integrated into each country's elite.

The people known in Turkic as Kipchaks were the same as the Polovtsy of the Russians, the Komanoi of the Byzantines, the Qumani (Cumans) of the Arab geographer Muhammad al-Idrisi, and the Kun (Qoun) of the Hungarians. According to Gadrisi, they originally formed part of the group of Kimak Turks who lived in Siberia along the middle reaches of the Irtysh, or along the Ob. The Kimaks and the Oghuz were closely related.

It is known fact that cumans called themselves "kipçak", however the origin of this word isn't clear. Several sources have tried to explain this, O.Suleymenov in his book Az i Ya proposes theory that word "kipçak" came from tribal tamga (sign or emblem) that is represented by two sticks or two knives (iki pıçak). Modern tamga of Qıpşaq tribe among Kazakhs looks like two sticks but it's called "qos alıp" (double alīf). This name probably was changed due to islamisation.

In Europe, they were assimilated by the local Turkic populations or their name spread to the conquered peoples: Kipchaks, Volga Bulgars, Alans, Kimaks and others; and elsewhere with Finno-Ugric speaking peoples, as well as with remnants of the ancient Greek colonies in the Crimea and Caucasians in the Caucasus.

The name Tatar initially appeared amongst the nomadic Turkic peoples of northeastern Mongolia in the region around Lake Baikal in the beginning of the 5th century. These people may have been related to the Cumans or the Kipchaks. The Chinese term is Dada and is a comparatively specific term for nomads to the north, emerging in the late Tang. Other names include Dadan and Tatan.

I Deal that with you, I send you a pm but I have school too.
    I Need Time.

You Mean Barsbek of Khazar Khagan
    or
Parsbit, Barsbek (also a male and female name) CUMAN FEMALE NOBLE GIRL ?

"You Mean Barsbek of Khazar Khagan
    or
Parsbit, Barsbek (also a male and female name) CUMAN FEMALE NOBLE GIRL ?"---

The Kyrgyz Kagan or "ajo", Barsbek. 680-711 AD, died fighting the Eastern Turks: Bilge-kagan, Toyukuk and Kyutegin in a suprise attack in the Sayan mountian range. Also mentioned in several song/epics like Manas is.

Yeah man take your time, I am also in school. I can understand a good deal of Russian, if you write it. Its what I study

Also thanks for the video link, very cool!
