Here are my ideas for Late Era Byzantium's units...
Regional/Mercenary Units
-Trapezuntii: Light archers from Trebizond.
-Cretens: Light archers from Crete.
-Tzacones: Light cavalry from Pelloponissos.
-Stratiote: Light lance armed cavalry from all over the Balkans.
-Varangians: Heavy Scandinavian infantry armed with double handed axes.
-Skythikon: Light cavalry archers from the Eurasian Steppes.
-Latinkon: Heavy European cavalry armed with lances.
-Vardarioti: Light Hungarian cavalry armed with bows, swords, and shields.
-Alamonoi: Heavy Germanic infantry armed with double handed swords.

Ranged
-Peltastoi: Very light infantry armed with javelins.
-Acontistae: Medium infantry that throw javelins.
-Toxotae: Light Byzantine archers.
-Mourtatoi: Heavy archers with swords and shields along with their bows.
-Gasmuli: Medium crossbow armed infantry.
-Handgunners: Medium infantry armed with guns.
-Siphonatores: The famous Greek Fire Throwers.

Infantry
-Akolouthoi: Light spearmen.
-Castrophilakae: Heavy town militias armed with swords and shields.
-Kontaratoi: Medium infantry armed with long Phalanx style pikes.
-Skutatoi: Medium infantry armed with spears and shields.
-Menavlatoi: Medium infantry armed with glaive like pikes and small shields.
-Spathatoi: Medium infantry armed with swords and shields.
-Vestiaritai: Heavy infantry armed with swords and shields.
-Pelekyphoroi: Heavy infantry armed with axes and shields.
-Spatharioi: Elite imperial guards armed with spears, longswords, and shields.

Cavalry
-Trapezitoi: Light cavalry armed with javelins.
-Kavallarioi: Heavy cavalry armed with lances, the Greek counterpart of the European Knight.
-Pronoiarioi: Heavy cavalry armed with maces and shields.
-Archontopoulai: Well trained heavy cavalry armed lances and shields.
-Kataphractoi: Very heavy cavalry armed with lances, swords, and shields.
-Clibinarri: Very heavy cavalry armed with lances, maces, and shields.
-Romanoi: Elite cavalry bodyguards armed with lances, maces, and shields.

Yes I know it's a big list, but it would probably work for all of the mod's eras, and not just the late one

Pelekyphoroi were decedents of vikings who had married ERE women. they had some of the best Armour Byzantine could afford
other units to include in list-
-skutatioi kontaratoi ( skutatioi sodliers with pikes or long spears)
-guard pikemen ( elite ERE unit more trained equipped better amour pikemen)

Someone had yet seen a drawing of a byzantine noble with italian plate and scimetar? I shearch this pic, he looks similar to the bowman from the first icone.

the first pic from Zalle. The spatharoi that I shearch looks as the archer this first from Zall(same helmet), but he have a partial plate, a big shield and a scimetar

I hate to read abou the fall of the byzantine empire ... it makes me sad a empire with thousands of years being slowly eaten by it+s enemies i wished the turks where dead ... :´(

I agree with you my friend, makes me sad also this part of fall of Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantine) because is the history of my country (Greece).., but, what a comment!!!
