Yes things are rolling with their usual speed Making previews takes time which we'd rather be putting into the modding, plus we'd thought that the RTW version might carry over a few people. Right now I'm finishing up horses for all factions: Gallics and Samnites will have no saddles, Greeks and Etruscans will have horses with saddles and various ornamentations, Romans will be similar but no ornamentation, and Carthaginian horses will be something completely different looking, having come from Africa. In other news here's a little something our 2d artist Mylae did:

Siege graphic for the Greeks, old and new:

See the accurate siege machinery in addition to the soldiers!

    Settlement taken, old and new:

"Military path blocked", old and new:

And finally, what do people think of this loading screen?

We're still testing out the ancient engravings idea, and looking for people's reactions.

you're all suck*rses .. ... that loading screen was average at best .. old black and write engraving of an old aqueduct .. ???? Didn't grab me as fitting your era. maybe a fight between 2 Samnites and a Roman hoplite?

As to the Seige pictures, did you need to change them? .. just go to the relelvent Greek picture. I'm using Greek for Etruscan and barbarian for tribal Romani .. that should give the correct impression?

Sorry, I thought you wanted an honest opinion .. but I do have the habit of being insensitive to artistic endeavours, sorry. The way I see it, an intro picture should "grab you" and put you "in" the period.

I suppose the main problem with modding is access to artists who could produce quality pictures for nothing ... taking current works has legal issues.

Don't let that post get to you, Signifer

It's a pretty good job doing those
Like the loading screen, very classic feeling to it

I need an honest opinion, Wimpy worked hard on that screen and it's important to know if we should keep it. A few people on our own team also made that comment about the screen not being "from" the period, so please give all the pros, cons, and suggestions that you can (so long as you don't do it like Rorarii did).

    First the screen :
the detail is not so good .
It is a mod of the beginning and the aquaduct looks like years abondend.
    So ,
    Sorry but i don't like it .

I like the background, but why not substitute the cold, unappealing picture of an aqueduct for pictures of statues of the famous people of the time?

Hannibal, Pyrrhus, Caesar, etc? These would at least be a bit more interesting, and seeing their faces may inspire the player to emulate their exploits!

SORRY WIMPY!! .. ignore the a*hole! .. of course I couldn't produce an original piece of art to save my life!

That picture would be good as backdrop to credits screen? ..

As to the intro screen, I still like the idea of 2 samnites, full of fury and feathers, angry at seeing a roman princep spearman still moving forward after they'd imbedded 4-5 javelins into his scutum. (early samnite warriors had difficulty in pitch battle because being lighter than the romans, couldn't hold the line)

    Just an idea ...

I liked the aqueduct but Rorarii's idea is good as well! The art was all pretty cool..

Well that someone in the PI team is me - my guts don't stand the ambient of the romantic representation of antiquity from 18. century...

You see Signifer - more people are against it! 1:0 for me ))

Well, those were made by a professional painter of the quality found in the likes of Osprey books. Are you hoping to find him on a TWC forum?
