SPECIALIST TEAM TOURNAMENT (#2)
Since the first team tournament seems to have come off fairly well, I hereby establish the second. Once again it will be based on a highly specialist, unusual theme that will take players out of their usual grooves.
The Darkest Days
The laws of conquest are as absolute as they are unwritten. The dead give up their lives to the spear and their glory to their killers. History is written by the winners. None can speak for the fallen. Until, that is, an astonishing scientific experiment went terrifyingly wrong and plunged a random grouping of history buffs, computer-game nerds and know-it-all armchair-generals into an energy vortex through TIME and SPACE!
Can one man - or two - truly make a difference? If you - and your most trusted ally - were called by benevolent gods into the days of our bloody-handed forefathers, could YOU alter history?
Is Fate your slave or your master?
YOU will decide - as a TEAM.
--------------------------------------------
THE TOURNAMENT:
This second experimental team tournament is open to as many teams of two players as wish to compete.
Each team will fight against the others in one of two possible 2v2 historical battles - Carrhae and Bibracte.
I will list the fixures and assign, in each case, which of the two teams gets the right to choose which of the two battles it will be (I will distribute this right fairly).
In each match you fight first as one side, and then swap places to be the other.
Win as both sides and your team receives 1 tournament point / Win only as one side and you get 1/2 tournament point / Lose as both sides and you receive 0 tournament points for that match.
e.g. Team C and Team E fight. Their fixture assigns Team E the right to choose whether it is Bibracte or Carrhae this time. They choose Bibracte and E plays as the Roman side. They win. Immediately they play again as the Gaul/Germanian side. They win. For this they get 1 tournament point.
It will be up to the teams to arrange the times by PM and Xfire, then post the results.
If there is a need for further battles to decide ties, I will assign them.
In the best traditions of crazy science-fiction, after a team has won the main tournament the two victors will be caught up in displacement field in the space-time continuum and be send hurtling to another point in the multiverse. There they will fight a 1v1 Historical Battle that either I will choose at random or which they will agree between them. Only the victor will return to the 21st Century alive.
