October: Battle of Edgehill proves indecisive
November: Battle of Turnham Green results in the Royalist advance on London being halted (note it was only a half hearted advance originally)
December: Parliament opens peace talks, the Eastern Association is established

1643

February: 'Oxford Treaty' talks begin, Parliaments Weekly Assesment Ordinance passed
April: Oxford Treaty negotiations collapse, Parliaments Sequestration ordinance passed
May: Parliaments Compulsary Loans Ordinance Passed
July: Parliaments Excise Ordinance passed, Royalists capture Bristol, Royalists win Battle of Lansdown Hill, Royalists win Battle of Roundway Down, The Westminster Assembly is formed
August: Royalists start the siege of Gloucester, Parliaments Impressment Ordinance passed, Solemn League and Covenant agreed between the Parliamentarians and the Scots
September: Parliamentarians relieve the Siege of Gloucester, King signs the Cessation Treaty with the Irish, The First Battle of Newbury is fought (inconclusive)

January: The 'Royalist Parliament' meets at Oxford, Scottish Army enters England
June: Parliamentarians besiege York, Royalists emerge as victors at the Battle of Cropredy Bridge
July: Parliament wins at the Battle of Marston Moor
August: Royalists defeat Essex at Lostwithiel
October: Parliamentarians win the Second Battle of Newbury
November: Political rift begins to form in the Parliamentarians ranks between the Independents and the Presbytarians.

January: Fairfax is appointed Commander in Chief of the Parliamentarian army, Clubmen uprisings in Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire,
February: Parliament passes the New Model Ordinance hence the creation of the New Model Army, Sir Marmaduke Langdale defeats several Parliamentarian forces in skirmishes in the East Midlands
May: Royalists sack Leicester
April: Parliament passes the self denying ordinance
June: Parliament wins at the Battle of Naseby
July: Parliamentarians win at Battle of Langport
August: Parliament establishes the National Presbytarian Church
September: Parliamentarians capture Bristol

1646

January: Charles meets with French Ambassadors asking for help
April: King flees from Oxford, Lilburne is arrested
May: King surrenders to the Scots
June: Oxford surrenders to the Parliamentarians
August: King rejects Newcastle Propositions

1647

March: Commisioners appointed to negotiate disbanding of the New Model Army
April: The New Model Army protests, the 'Apology of the common soldier' is written
June: Joyce seizes the King - Cromwell and Charles meet for the first time to discuss matters
November: Cromwell suppresses the Levellers, the King escapes
December: Charles allies with the Scots

congratulations for this great work.
the events and historical events is very important im a campaign.
a campaign with many historical events is not empty and have a history.
for example the fall or take of the a city have a concecuences or event.

Thanks. It's difficult to summarise the entire war in 40 or so events, but I hope that by reading the events more players will learn the 'story' of the war and take an interest in reading more detailed accounts.

yes and If it is possible to put more historical events in the mod better.
The events give life to the campaign.
i like the europa universalis II from paradox,for the historical events.
i not like the new europa universalis III from paradox,because not have historical events.

It's important to strike a balance between event spam and meaningful important event messages. As this mod is more historical I think it's ok to lean towards event spam.

It was treason against the country not aginst the monarch, something illustrated well by the mods title - parliamentarians were fighting for their country, royalists for the King (although Royalists would also have said they were fighting for their country).

Interestingly the Parliamentarians also claimed to be fighting for the King! At least early in the war.

To free him from bad council.

As Cromwell stated after Charles was executed "Cruel nesscasity"

Whilst Charles was alive he would be a rallying point for all Royalists.
