Default Bavaria - lovely place to visit breweries, and I can't wait to see them in ETW

I was in Bavaria in March visiting breweries for work.
(Visited 36 in 18 days for any of you interested, trying beers from 64 breweries in total, and probably trying 170+ beers! Hard work!)
Absolutely fell in love with the place, and the sense of history there, and understandably I now have a rather soft-spot for Bavaria - can't wait to see them in ETW.
    Just came across this site:
    http://www.napoleon-series.org/milit...c_cantler.html
which has literally hundreds of images of Bavarian uniforms.
I thought I'd share it with you chaps.

    the sausages!
    the ghoulash!
It's a very special part of the world, and their armies wore very cool hats.

Well that goes without saying - (I work in the beer industry).

I must have tried 170+ beers in my 18-day trip to Bavaria in March.

Kornflakes - I'm rather envious of that. London's nice, but Munich bars are wonderful. Of the ones that I remember, I think my favourite was the brewtap (braustubl) for Unionsbrau?
It was a bit of a walk from where we were staying, but the beer was good, the ghoulash was wonderful & cheap as chips, and there was a strange little dude playing an organ. (Blues & jazz later on).

I say: take a trip up to Bamberg, and have a meal at Kachelofen. And at Ambrosianum (next to the Schlenkerla pub).

Oh man, oh man, oh man, I miss Bavaria!

It's a good place. Had a really good evening there, and great ghoulash!
I'd probably go back to Bavaria this March, but I'm taking all my set holiday time next year to go to India for 3 months. And there's no beer there worth drinking...

Bavaria - bars, beers, breweries, food, history, architecture, culture, Katjes Yoghurt Gums... A perfect holiday.

I saw quite a few actually, in my 18 days in Bavaria. Especially on Sundays in little braustubls.
But then, I've been told that Bavaria isn't really in Germany... Bavaria has it's own cultural identity...

But I do agree that the stereotype caricature of Germans is rather pathetic really. Have you watched the film 'Beerfest'?
    TOTAL !
Why... how... can someone invest money in such a stupid film? Why would anyone pay money to see that?
    And 'Eurotrip'. What total boIIocks.
Sometimes when I watch these stupid films, made with no sense of respect for other nationalities, just treating the rest of the world as a playground for idle Americans to stamp through - leaving nothing of worth, and gaining nothing - it's embarrasing. If they really do see the rest of the world as being some sort of backwards place full of idiots, and they really believe that the function of the rest of the world is a place for them to get drunk and bone everything they see, then no wonder they're so widely disliked.
If you showed Beerfest and Eurotrip, or films like them to someone who disliked American just a little, they'd be strapping bombs to themselves by the end of the movie. They might just as well be recruiting videos for Al Qaeda.

Crikey - this has turned into a bit of a rant. Sorry!
It's not meant to sound anti-American.
    I'm just anti-shlt films.

The english people have problems in europe too:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/190000...ligans_300.jpg

The Bavariens are the one with most tradition people in Germany in this time. But if you look at Oktoberfest, some VIPs want to be tradition too and make the tradition funny, like Paris Hilton. Many people think in America the german wear it every day in muinch.

But every in Germany looks at the moment like this:

Yes, I suppose every country has it's problems.
But I think it's only the Americans that decide to spend millions of dollars recording their problems, sticking it on DVDs, and then selling it to people around the world.

    It's as if they're saying,
"Hello. Some of the people from my country are ignorant feckwits, and have no respect for other countries - including yours! Buy my DVD and watch these cretins plssing all over your national identity! It's only £8, and you can watch it again and again! Now with special deleted scenes that we couldn't fit into the cinema version, which further reinforces our national stereotype of being a nation of small-minded, arrogant xenophobes with big stomachs, small brains, and even smaller penises!"

To all movie execs out there, please, let's see some more Big Lebowskis, and Kingpins, and less Eurotrips and Beerfests...

The Bavarian lederhosen thing is a bit like kilts over here, I suppose. Not many people wear them at all, except for big family things and special occasions. (And the occasional nut-job who wears kilts everyday). One of my Scottish flatmates used to refuse to wear a kilt for special occasions - he says a true Scotsman only wears a kilt for war!
