Mmmm... I'm translating DLV to the spanish language, and work has really started. But some words lead me to a little controversy with Ivanhoex about its meaning and translation. Maybe you english speakers could help us find what is what and what should mean what.

    First word:

    Rout.

EDIT: I thought this better, please move it to the general section with the title "Help in translation". = )

    move this along that:

    Wikipedia: rout
A rout is commonly defined as a chaotic and disorderly retreat or withdrawal of troops from a battlefield, resulting in the victory of the opposing party, or following defeat, a collapse of discipline, or poor morale. A routed army often degenerates into a sense of "every man for himself" as the surviving combatants attempt to flee to safety. A disorganized rout often results in much higher casualties for the retreating force than an orderly withdrawal. On many occasions, more soldiers are killed in the rout than in the actual battle. Normally, though not always, routs either effectively end a battle, or provide the decisive victory the winner needs to gain the momentum with which to end a battle in their favor.
Historically, ligthly equipped soldiers such as auxiliaries, light cavalry, partisans or militia were important when pursuing a fast-moving routing enemy force and could often keep up the pursuit into the following day, causing the routing army heavy casualties or total dissolution. The slower moving heavy forces could then either seize objectives or pursue at leisure.

Routs may be feigned to entice an enemy into pursuing the "retreating" force, with the intent of causing the enemy to abandon a strong defensive position or leading the enemy into a prepared ambush. It is thought that Breton cavalry performed this maneuvre at the Battle of Hastings. However, this is a high-risk tactic, as the feigned-rout may often develop into a real rout.

so in spanish it may be like this:

rout: escapando / huyendo / corriendo por sus vidas / etc etc

but it also declares it as "total defeat" so when a unit especifies that it is "routing", in this game... wich will be more appropiate?

@Elvallie (sorry everybody else as I´ll reply to him in Spanish)

la traduccion correcta de "rout" sería desbandada (huir en desorden).... osea cuando una unidad sufre muchas bajas o perdida de moral...

    Hope it helped!

For text related files look in the text folder.

Editing is easy; just change what you want and delete the relevant .bin. The game will rebuild the .bin at program launch or when you start a new campaign, depending on the file edited.

    Taiji,
why delete the .bin file? I'm doing a translation to portuguese and I was wondering why that.

    Hi Flavio

Basically the game wants to use the .bin. It only reads the .txt to build the .bin. If it finds a .bin already there then it does not attempt to replace it. So we have to delete it in order for the game to be able to build a new .bin.

    edit:

Apparently I was wrong, the game automatically rebuilds the .bin if the .txt is newer. Sorry about that mistake!

    Which version? 6.2?

I think 6.3, which is an older version of BB, will have some new text. And also BB2.7, the latest version, has some updated text too.

We haven't seen Repman around for a while, so it's hard to say what will be in 6.3...

Anyway, it's great to hear of progress on the french translation

Hello every one, French translation for DLV 6.2 is now available here.
If you find missing (or bad) translation, or have any bug, please tell us ! (here or on the other forum)

    Enjoy !

PS:Taiji, we focused on DLV 6.2 for the moment. Maybe we'll translate 6.3 at its stable release. We didn't discuss about it for the moment. For BB, I don't know if we will. Maybe if people ask for it
