Wow! the texturing by Ronin on that last model is superb!

Did he create proper normal maps from a high res model or something?

you need a forum, I must have this!
"WE WILL SMITE THE INVADERS FROM OUR SKIES! Though they sweep over our lands like the sands of winter, never again will we bow before them; never again endure their oppression; never again endure their tyranny. We will strike without warning and without mercy, fighting as one hand, one heart, one soul. We will shatter their dreams and haunt their nightmares, drenching our ancestors' graves with their blood. And as our last breath tears at their lungs; as we rise again from the ruins of our cities...they will know: Helghan belongs to the Helghast." -Scholar Visari

How many of these units can handle the m2 engine?

    Uh, which units exactly?

The thing is, our in-game units (not the renders) on average don't have more polygons than regular vanilla units, they just have better normal maps. And good normal maps don't use more resources than bad normals.

So basically the same number of units

P.S. You need to have shader model 2.0 enabled in MTW2 options to see normal maps, and shaders 2.0 do indeed take up more resources and need a better graphics card - but just about any +-modern video card should have no problem with this in anyway.

So... will the in-game models be the same as the renders you showed us here?

    Modeling - 3ds Max and Z-brush.

    Rendering - V-ray and Skyline(built-in 3ds max renderer).

Texturing - Bodypaint 3D and Photoshop.

You can try all of these programs for free for 30 days

    This model
is a high-poly one and was made for rendering and movie purposes - it is not yet an in-game model.

All the other units are in game units and look almost as good as the render. (Obviously, the game engine doesn't quite reach the levels of professional rendering software )

I had meant specifically to the cav unit of the video. The model looks very good but also more complex for example the animated harness. Could you show us a full stack of this rider - let's say 100 units in full motion (with fraps)?
THX for the technically explaining and BTW it is clear that the mod need a good hardware.

The model in the video is this one. And like I said before, it's the only one that isn't an in-game model.

It was a high-poly model made specifically for rendering videos and scenes.

OK and THX for clarifying it again but i believe i am not alone in the misinterpreted.

These programs (Modeling, Rendering & Texturing) are likely to most here because of the high price not to be used but there are some alternates for free or the small purse.

OMG I never imagined, that you can do something like that with the M2TW Engine! This looks better than any M2TW or ETW unit I've ever seen!
