    Default German Version+RetroMod/GUAM Sound Problem

As said in the title, I have a sound problem with the Grand Unit Addon Mod (and other mods). Basically, the problem is, that the eastern european, scottish, and mongol accents do not exist in the German version of M2TW. I tried the various fixes with reassigning accents in the descr_sound_accents.txt and then deleting events.dat and events.idx, but it didn't work. Am I doing something wrong? I put the txt-file into {Mod-Directory}\data\sound, and I added the io.file_first parameter to the mod's batchfile. Please help, it's annoying having nly half the factions with sounds....

descr_sounds_accents should be put in the {Mod-Directory}\data folder, not the {Mod-Directory}\data\sound folder. Good luck!

When I put it there and then delete the events.dat and events.idx files, as instructed in other places where this file is used to solve a similar problem, then I get a CTD instead of the intro video
    What should I do? :hmmm:

    EDIT
At the second try, the game launched, but now I don't have any sounds at all, except for the Music :hmmm:

Oh, I get it! The problem is that the accents are still being referenced in the export_descr_unit file! This is an error which is keeping the event.dat from being generated. Just to confirm, you still hear the sounds when you click on the menu items, right?

Hmmmm... I had this problem. Did you also delete the sounds files in the vanilla game? If so, then that is your problem.

Why in the world should I delete the files in my vanilla install? Everything works there...anyway, I won't be able to try anything for a while now, I'm on holiday from tomorrow until September 3...if you have an idea how to solve this, send me a pm, coz tis thread will be quite a way down when I come back

This is a common problem for non-english users of MTW2. The only real solution to get rid of this sound issues with any english mod, is to paste the english soundfiles of missing accents into a modded soundfolder. This are the good news. The bad one is, that there was about 6700 mp3 and waves (420 MB) to be added, from an english version of the game! :smileybri
