Thread: Rise of Kingdoms Signups - a campaign-style competition

Default Rise of Kingdoms Signups - a campaign-style competition

In Ancient times, twenty kingdoms rose up from the dust of past civilizations. Each kingdom had ambitions to dominate the land, but only one would emerge victorious.

This event is still in the planning stages, but the basics are set in stone. This is the sign up thread for Rise of Kingdoms. Up to twenty people can sign up.

You will take command of one of the factions in Rome - Total War, and you will choose one of the custom battle maps to be your home territory.

From there, you can declare an invasion of another player-controlled territory. As time goes on, you will have enough resources to build forts and towns to defend your territories with. In addition, each territory will have distinct rules, decided on by the original owner. Will your territory have no cavalry allowed? Will it allow Artillery? It's up to you!

Forge alliances, hire mercenaries, and start wars to dominate the land!

You will likely have to check on this every day to check if you are under attack. If you don't, you may lose one of your territories.

See my posts on the second page (first is outdated) of this thread to see the planning of it:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...=185648&page=2

Note that you will always be the host while you are defending, and there will be a 60 minute time limit.

The event will probably start in a few days. Use this application to sign up:

I'm pretty sure you can't make a settlement on Grassy Flatlands, so we won't be able to use it. You can check, though.

And yes, you should choose your territory now, I forgot about that. I'll add that in.

Also note that the defender is always the host, so you will always be the host on your territory (unless someone takes it away).

We're going to use a "point system", where you start with a certain amount of points that you can buy/change rules with. Common rules, like no artillery, will be very cheap, while unusual large ones like "no cavalry" will be extremely expensive.

Your starting points must be used to choose rules, but later on, you get a certain amount of points each day, more points if you have more territories. Now these points can be used to build forts on your territories. Using more points, you can expand them into villages, towns, and eventually cities. The more you expand a territory's town, the more points you get per day. You can also use these points to add, remove, or change rules on any of your territories. Or, you can use them to trade to other players, or to hire a few mercenaries in a battle.

EDIT: That's why you have to choose a map that you can choose to have a settlement on or not have a settlement on. It will start without one, but you will build one as time goes on.

Sure, at least 10 or 15 do. And multiple people can have the same map as their territory.

    Ok, one more change:

There will now be neutral territories, one for each no-settlement-available map. These territories will be called "Field Territories". Obviously, these will never have settlements, so if you hate siege battles, you can try to conquer all of these.

The way it will work is, randomly throughout the competition (and a few at the beginning), a field territory will be discovered. Anyone can declare that they are invading the territory upon discovery. If no one challenges the invasion, it is given to the invader without battle. If he is challenged, there is a no time limit battle on the territory. Anyone can join in, and it can be up to an 8 player Free For All.

The winner takes the territory, and from then on it acts like any other territory, except that it cannot be expanded.

I think we will start once we have 10 players. Others can join in as the competition continues.

My introduction is a bit boring. Maybe more people would join if it described it better.
