Actually, If he continues to do what he is doing and takes the coast, then he will cut off the tim's trade and reduce the amount of army that they can have.
80 years is simply not enough to enjoy all of the fun in the world, and out of it...
I would burn and exterminate or sack their big money making cities then leave them to rebel! Carry out a series of co-ordinated raids along the middle east perhaps or greece.
Burn down all their towns. It's the only way!

Looking back on this thread, I am disheartened by just how much I was forced to leave out. The Great Assassin Campaign in the holy lands, my wars with the Polish, my Colonial phase. Each individual set of attacks and counterattacks, pushes and pulls between me and the Tim's... Of course, there was a reason I had to omit them. Including them would over double the length of the AAR (seriously, I have thousands of screens and saves). Maybe though some time in the future I will construct a "Lost Episodes" edition updates.
In any case, at the completion of this next update, you all will be basically caught up with me. I haven't played in a long time (before november), so the next update will probably take a long time to be posted, because I have to spend an hour finding all my units on the map and reconnecting the strategical dots. But because this update specifically shows a new chosen strategy, one that really gets the ball rolling, I probably will not initiate a radical change in tactics. Though I will adjust how I document it, for more entertaining and informative AAR reports (BTW if you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask! I will dig through saves and answer!).
Update 4- The Great Push Forward
Okay, so when we left off, it was turn 753, and things were looking up for the Allies. Spain and Italy were being retaken (again), and a new way of assigning liberated territories was made.
This is when the Tim's are finally pushed out of Iberia. Quite the set of battles that was.
England does have Riga, and attempts to defend it and gain Novgorod, but the attempt is ultimately futile.
The Russian-led assault continues, in an effort to make Spain the Southern Power.
However, my continuous production from north african citadels prompted the Timurids to blockade the region. Yes, they literally physically prevented my troops from boarding ships.
*facepalm* England, please don't start with your leon shenanigans again...
I had a little under 30 of these ambushes. I love gunpowder...
I also start to figure out how to best attack the Tim's, so I occasionally get good results like this battle.
As you can immediately notice, I am struggling to hold onto southern france. However, you might also see a thrust across the alps deep into central europe. This is the start of my new strategy- a production base buried deep inside Timmy territory that will not only assist in the liberation of france and germany, but regulate the inevitable power struggle between the North and South powers when the Tim's are finally beaten.
Some more nifty battles for Arhus and surrounding territories. However, Scandinavia is impossible to hold onto...
Tim Reinforcements never arrived for that battle
While England was pushed off of the mainland, my central alpine base of european power slows down any Timurid aggression, creating a power vacuum in southern france from which Spain and I can conquer.
The Timurids amass legions at our border, clearly signaling an imminent invasion. Were they to attack now, I could not stop them.
England has some success with help from my production base. I continue to supply armies by land (spreading in all directions) and landing some naval forces from the west and south. The papacy grabs a foothold in italia once more (not sure if I'm going to kick them off or let them stay).
The Tim's launch an effective counter attack through the alps and southern france. They steam roll over my defences in central europe and run past my advancing southern forces in northern Italy.
I lead an assault in northern germany, making a large english dent into Tim territory. The Spanish are cut off from advancing north through the papal states, but are soon to control southern france. England is poised to control the North.
So where does this leave us? In the span of 30 turns, Western europe is finally prepared to be liberated. Within the next ten turns I expect it to happen, and for England to be ready to sweep through the north east (though I'll try to keep the mongols alive if I can), and spain to the south. However, I want to keep these north and south powers confined to the west. For the liberation of eastern europe and the neareast, I want to give power back to my dear friends and allies since the first 50 turns- the Byzantines. I, hopefully, will sweep up the border of the map and control russia, the steppes, down through arabia. This way I can have access to all parts of the map to maintain my superpower status, and who knows what will end up happening after that. Will the Mongols and Tims still be alive? Perhaps I shall exile them to islands from which they can never leave because of their naval glitch. Will the once allies turn on eachother?
That's all assuming I survive the next few turns in Africa... And with the approaching horde (many, many stacks) making their way through eastern europe to mount a true concerted counter attack.
I'm not out of the woods yet, not by a longshot.
wow.
nice! Though I would like to be England/France and do a WW1/2 style but I guess this is also perfectly done with a VS styled Russia(bet that all those Americans hate you btw for giving NA to the Russians

I think it would be a good idea to try to take egypt.. build a few forts on the border and turtle in that area until you finish the rest..

Thanks Dunecat!
Also, why did you leave Cuba and N. A. left alone for so long? And is Cuba still rebel?

This is mentioned at some point in this thread IIRC lol, but Cuba and NA were both part of byzantiums kingdom I gifted to them, as well as the 3 mediteranean islands of crete, rhodes, and cyprus, of which rhodes was gifted. So yes, occasionaly NA would rebel against the Byz's, and later on spain would try to snatch it from them (but I never let them ultimately).
Your coffers seem to be um......rather empty in the last screen shot

I just don't get why you bothered to give all those settlements to the AI. Well, I suppose it made it more of a challenge
