    Its time for me to buy another video card again, dont ask what happened to my last system.
    Long story... *tongue*

    Anyway..
    as some you might already know, I have been fooled by salesmen several times about "Card X being good..etc etc"

    So I would love to hear from you guys what the best card would be. Maybe based on your own experiences or reviews.

    I dont know much about computers and stuff, but I am already at the stage in which some games wont run at all because of..

    * pixel shading
    * not Direct X 9 compatible
    * existing videocard just being crappy

    so I will buy a new one.. which hopefully is uhum up- to date.. :happy

    Two options.. or if you have an other one..than point that out

    Candidate A:
    Nvidia Club3D GeForce FX 6600GT AGP8x 128MB DVI + TV out
    189.00 Euros

    Candidate B:
    ATI RADEON Sapphire 9800 Pro 128MB 256Bit DDR DVI + TV-out
    209.00 Euros

    Which card is better, based on performance and compatibility?

    Looking forward to your replies, links, flames, or whatever..

    Wow, Not DX9 compatible? That must be an old card. I have a Gforce 2 that runs DX9 games :huh
    I'd say go for the NVIDIA. They're the only ones who currently support CineFX 3.0 shader technology.
    I don't know where you live but, Ebuyer in the UK has a few better quality 6600's for the same price or cheaper. (I converted them from pounds to euros to make sure )

    If you can swing 230 euros, I've seen 128Mb BFG 6800 OC' sfor sale at 230. Although I lost the link...sorry.
    This would really spank a "vanilla" GT. AND BFG is the ONLY video card manufacturer that offers a lifetime warranty

    But I would DEFINITELY go with a NVIDIA

    9800 pro is a great card but its a last generation card.

    The 6600 gt is much better in my opinion and cheaper. If you do go with the 9800 pro however you will not be dissapointed, its a superb card only dated.

    Well it seems that the GT is in favour till now *tongue*

    I have several games installed on my pc.. for example Fifa 2005, RTW etc..etc..

    is it necessary to re-install these games after installation of the new vid-card?
    Related to performance etc..

    nope. just run a driver cleaning program, install latest drivers and you're good to go.

    Definitly the 6600, it's what? 50% faster?

    The 6800's great, like 200% faster?

    If you see it for 230, oi! I would love that!

    I'm running a 6600GT also, a XFX card. I would recommend that card above the 9800PRO cards because the ATI card is "EOL" with the release of the new ATI X600,X700 and X8x0 series of cards.

    The 6600GT card is faster than the ATI X600 and X700 cards in most of the situations and they have a "friendly" pricetag compared with the highend models from both Nvidia and Ati.

    I would not recommend Club3d because there are reported problems with these cards on several hardware sites.
    XFX, Asus, Leadtek recommended cards and they are available in almost the same pricerange as the club3d (180-210 euro's)
