Thread: Reasonable alternative

    Default Reasonable alternative

Since this is now a Zombie mod, as RE is no longer modding MTW2, Im looking for another mod to play.

I was a great fan of Europa Barbarorum for Rometw, and played anno dominni quite often too. I saw that broken crescent has by far the most active forums on the website, but i do not like the idea of focussing on the east.

Is there a mod around that improves the poor gameplay experience of Medieval Total War?

I read a bit about lands to conquer, but i understand the map stays the same and the changes concern new faction and skins mostly....

Depends on what you want. Close to Anno Domini is the new Stainless Steel from what I have read. However it's a huge download.
alhoon is not a member of the infamous Hoons: a (fictional) nazi-sympathizer KKK clan. Of course, no Hoon would openly admit affiliation to the uninitiated.
"Angry Uncle Gordon" describes me well.

My three favorite European mods for MTW II are:
    Clouds Across Europe
    Sicilian Vespers
    Machiavello
CLouds Across Europe is the most simple of the three; the gameplay is excellent 9esp. the diplomacy), with a couple of new factions (five, off the top of my head) and a some new features on the map. Version 1.5 is coming soon, which incorporates many changes to the map!
Sicilian Vespers has a lot of mods to the map and adds many factions - some in the original MTW that weren't in the new MTW (like Aragon!).
Machiavello is the most involved of the three, featuring many historical events, multiple settlements per area (though only one primary settlement per area), a new map, factions, units...
All three, to my knowledge, are stand-alone mods that go into their own folders, and don't require Kingdoms expansion. Machiavello is my favorite, but is more heavy on system resources than the other two.
    Hope this helps.
BTW, Broken Crescent is excellent, too....
