I've just registered a copy of Milkshape, and I am going to start working on units for the Caliphate of Cordoba.

Also, I'll be out to sea starting September, and gone until Q3 of 2011. I'll try to get as much done before that, but don't expect even an abbreviated release until Q3 of 2011.

Thanks. I'll probably rename the province name to reflect that it represents two provinces.

I also put Athens under Byzantine control based on this map:

The striping in Greece and Thrace represents territory either held temporarily by Simeon, or lands raided by Bulgaria

Not much to note, but I am in the process of researching a faction roster for the Ummayad Caliphate of Cordoba.

Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

We had a lot of Caliphate of Cordoba research on our old forum on ModRealms, which is, surprisingly enough, still active. I'll bring it over for you once you acknowledge that I did do quite a bit of work upon the map.

Well, I can go over there and grab it myself.

    However:

    This mod isn't abandoned.

I'm just not sure what direction I want to head. Any suggestions?

Anyone have any idea for a sub campaign? I think that will be the best focus.

I'm in the process of coming up with army lists. If you have one for any faction, submit it.

I'm currently working on how I am going to set up a recruitment system for the factions.

    Extremely rough idea for Byzantines:

    1. Tagmata: These are the troops of the central army. They are only recruitable in Constantinople.
    Ex.:

    Domestikas ton Scholon
    Excubitores
    2. Themata: These are the regional troops. Not all troops are available in all provinces. The core units are available in most provinces, and 'local' troops in other provinces
    Ex:

    Peltastai
    Akontistai
    Cavalarii
    3. Mercenaries: These are recruitable foreign troops. They will mostly be the same units you would find as mercenaries in certain areas.

    Ex:

    Skythicon
    Rus Warriors
    Armenians
That's just a brief idea of where I'm headed. Not every faction works the same way.

Take a look in CBUR "Relative historical info" thread.
Read it carefully and choose the names of the units that you think they fit in the mod.
Domestikos Ton Scholon is a military rank and not a unit.
You an call your unit Hikanati or Scholarii or something like this.
TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
    read this to avoid misunderstandings.

IWTE tool master and world txt one like this, needed inorder to release TGC 1.0 official to help TWC to survive.
Adding MARKA HORSES in your mod and create new varietions of them. Tutorial RESTORED.

I understand that, but thank you anyways.

I was just using those as rough examples of how I think it should be split.

It's on hold. I have the files, I just haven't got around to continuing work, but I've found my disks. If you can give me any ideas for the Northern factions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I'm still working on tweaking the map. What were the most important settlements in the Scandinavian region?

    One more thing:

If you have contributed to this project, let me know so I can put together a list of credits. Otherwise I will release what I have when it's ready, credit or not, and then you'll have to find me later, and I might have to remove it. So to preempt that, let me know now.

How far north do you want? Important settlements usually only extend north to about Trondheim (which is much later than our period).
    Important settlements -
Norway (Settlement - Province with a picture of location)
    Stafangr - Jağarr
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Kaupang - Vestfold
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    (General Area)

    Kinsarvik - Hordaland
(I got no picture for that, sorry )

    Sweden:
    Uppsala - Uppland

    Birka - Björkö
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Kalmar - Õstergotland

    Visby - Gotland

    Lund - Skane

    Denmark:
    Roskilde - Zealand

Alabu (AKA Aalborg) - North Jutland

    Aarhus - East Jutland

    Heiğabır

    Jelling - West Jutland

    There ya go!

Definitely good enough. I don't even think this map goes as far north as Trondheim anyways.

Also, not going to share it, and not sure how it will work, but you'll love how I simulate the Viking Invasions.

    Might have emergent factions too.

    Things not to expect:

    Custom Settlements
Volga Bulgars (I know they were originally planned to be included at some point, but most of their land isn't on the map, and they didn't really do anything major in relation to the wider world. Still, their trade value will be simulated somehow.)
Faction Transitions (Certainly not DotS style, but SicilianVespers style is possible, but unlikely)
Merchants(I think they can be modded out...)
Hussites (Definately not. This mod ends well before they arose. Although Catharism might have a role)
