And also the Golden Era of the Vikings! And, if you're stretching it right to the time of the mod's end, the Seljuk Turks.
Golden Ages Total War it is!

I have PMed several other members of TWC, the "experts" in their field, asking them if they would be able to provide us with help on factions like the Khazars and Abbasids.

I really like the sound of this mod and I would like to join as an researcher for factions. What's your timeframe? for in the very early 700 an persian/sassanid empire still was there although crumbling and not even one hundred of its former power and what about the pictish tribes in north britannia? If I remember my history lessons good then those tribes were still there and they were becoming civilised in the late 800ths

Thanks for showing an interest! The mod begins in 900AD, and ends in 1079. Which factions would you like to research? And yes, there will be a Pictish faction.

OK, here is a new faction list I propose. Those in red already have groups working on modelling units that have said they will help, and therefore can go on the "back burner". Those in bluehave groups I have contacted, but have not yet replied.

    WESTERN EUROPEAN/SCANDINAVIAN
    Kingdom of Wessex (Anglo-Saxons)
    Kingdom of Northumbria (Anglo-Saxons)
    Kingdom of Alba (Picts)
    East Frankish Kingdom (Franks)
    West Frankish Kingdom (Franks)
    Kingdom of Italy (Lombards)
    Burgundy (Burgundians)
    Asturias and Galicia (Spanish)
    Vikings

    EASTERN EUROPEAN
    Empire of the Romans (Byzantines)
    Tsardom of Bulgaria (Bulgaria)
    Principality of Kiev (Rus)
    Kingdom of Abkhazia (Georgians)
    Emirate of Armenia (Armenians)

    ISLAMIC
    Ummayad Caliphate of Cordoba
    Abbasid Caliphate of Baghdad
    Aghlabid Kingdom (Tunisia and Sicily)
    Tulunid Emirate (Egyptians)

    NOMADS
    Pechenegs
    Khazars
    Magyars

This is NOT the final list, so please feel free to suggest others!

I don't belong to a group I'm independent, I would like to do the Western Frankish kingdom or the kingdom of Italy

I thought that the Caliphate of Cordoba was a part of the Arabic caliphate or kingdom in marocco? Not sure by the way but I do know that Spain was captured by an General called Tariq ibn-Ziyad who had his loyalties in Marocco

Wasn't egypt the Fatimid caliphate in this time frame?

Can be wrong with al my suggestions though

Corduba was a caliphate on it's own your right, but I don't believe it was the ummayad caliphate that caliphate had it's capital in damascus and they lasted till 750 ad

OK then, you can do both of these factions for now, if that's OK with you? Put it on your sig!

Caliphate of Cordoba was indeed ruled by the Ummayads from 756 until 1031. It became a true Caliphate only in 929AD, so may be known as Emirate of Cordoba in the mod, who knows.

Fatimids arose in 909AD in modern Tunisia, and conquered the Egyptian Tulunids in 969, the same year the Romans retook Antioch.

And finally, welcome to the team!

That looks fine... my German is just about good enough to read what you've put...

Only one problem, you forgot to add the Kingdom of Alba in factions. Other than that, thanks a lot!

The bit at the start you're asking for help from German modders right?

I would like something more Pictish, like Kingdom of Fortrui, or Kingom of Innse Gael , if the map does not include Ireland of course, and about the german site i have no idea how this is going to work i can´t read german!!:hmmm:

    The map does include Ireland
    And try using google translate?
As you're in charge of all British factions, to an extent you can choose whichever you like, after all, you'll be modelling them! I don't want to cram the British Isles too much though... so say a maximum of 5 factions there plus Vikings? Which do you suggest?
