This might seem like a really dumn question, and it has probably been answered but I haven't found it (and if thats the case then I apologise), but Is it actually possible for an HRE faction that does not have an elector count at the start of the mod to become an elector county at all?

No, it's not. Or better: not yet.
Many people seem to like the idea of becoming elector count. Also, in the early era elector counts didn't even exist in this form. Maybe I change the system so that all lords may vote in the beginning and that some 'evolve' into Elector Counts over the course of the game, while the others lose their ability to vote.
I may even combine this with a hereditary Salian Kingship in the beginning. The elections would start once the house dies out or something like that.
However, these are only ideas atm. No promisses! But I constantly strife to enhance these things.
Cheers,
D.

nice. good job.
As the title says. Im with the glorious Hohenstaufen in Swabia.
But before I could teach the Welfs a lesson Im sure my family will die, together with the Habsburgs.
They have no children. And they are not young.
What can I do? Yet I havent conquered any land as I am early in the game (after 10 turns maybe)
thx in advance
Adopt a few generals?
No sir.
I want my royal line. And there arent many adoption offers.
well, adoptions are the only way... apart from children, oc.
if you do not loose your family in battles, im sure you wont die out (if theres no bug).
Well conquer more lands and see if they breed or use male enhancement...like you know give_trait "blah von_blah" Fertile 3. WifeIsFertile and give_ancillary this doctor.
Hmm...in most mods or in vanilla the rulers start with already having kids...I guess when the game start the current prince should have already a kid, as he is like 40 years old....
I wish a historical game, not an Unknown Jacob ending up on the imperial throne.
Last time I was offered an adoption, the candidate was named like...uhh Fritz Lang?
So I guess conquest is the way, and even cheats if kids wont come.
thx for the replies, but pls implement some kids in the new version..
I just tested Swabia (on the usual VH/H settings) and the royal line didn't fail. Duke Friedrich died childless, but his brother Otto's son ruled the Duchy after him.
But I see that due to hardcoded limits it's highly probable that one has to adopt generals in order to survive. The only thing you may do about this is to kill the Habsburg branch ASAP, because this increases the chance of having children (adoption offers and birth rates are linked to the generals to number of settlement proportions).
It's crap, but oh well - it's better I don't start to tell you how much I hate numerous things in M2's hardcode...
Cheers,
D.

Don't kill the Habsburgs!
Kill the other lot! The House of Habsburg should come to rule the world....

Well, after some turns (and after an adoption ) children started to appear, two turns after I took Genova. (yeah the obvious superiority of zhe empire again assured in battle,)
But because of the adoption power might shift from the now very much venered princes of Waiblingen.
Anyway, the dynasty prevails!
