    Default Architecture

    I just wish thread with same name haven't been done yet...

    Anyway, I think we should decide which factions will get architecture and buildings of North European, South European and Middle Eastern.

    First those which are obivious. It should be clear that all northmen factions which are Kingdom of Rohan, Kingdom of Dale and Eriador should have North European architecture and since it fits to those factions very well I think we don't have to change anything in that architecture.

    Second obivious factions are Rhûn and Harad. They both should have Middle Eastern architecture but Umbar should have in the beginning some few remaining influences from architecture of Gondor, maybe walls and harbor of Umbar could be same architecture as Gondor has.

    But then it becomes harder.

    Gondor should probably have South European architecture. I'm not sure is it possible to make new skins for cities in battle map, but if it is Gondor should definiatly have all stone buildings and walls reskinned to white.

    Then elves which will be probably hard one. High Elves could use same thing as Gondor, South European architecture reskinned to white. If it's impossible to make new buildings to battle map we should use same thing as with Gondor and High Elves to architecture of Silvan Elves.

    Dwarves seem to be quite hard one also. I think dwarves should have same castles as Teutonic Order had in Teutonic Campaign of Kingdoms. Obiviously all their buildings should be stone. Maybe North European architecture with only stone buildings.

    Ah, Isengard, Orcs of Misty Mts and Mordor...

    These are probably most hard ones. Most of buildings should be skinned black. Isengard, Cirith Ungol and Minas Morgul should have influences from Gondor's architecture and Khazad-dûm, Gundabad and High Pass should have influences from architecture of Dwarves. Maybe walls again.

    In theory yes but I'm not sure is it still possible.

    I just took a look at the Peninsula Italica mod, and they have managed to totally re-creat the buildings inside the walls of a city/castle to fit the roman-esque architecture. Maybe we could ask them how they did it, it is getting us one step closer to re-creating entire cities.
    Maybe someone has already looked into this, if so, my bad, sorry

    It would be great if we could have cities for Silvan Elves which would have lots of trees everywhere and some buildings would also be trees.

    Also for dwarves cities shouldn't have any grass or trees, only stone buildings everywhere.

    Trees. It's not hard to make them but its hard too include such architecture in game

    What about big trees with some elvish houses in them?

    It's not hard to do them. But it is too hard to includ them in game. There are sume problems such as making roots in the sity map

    yeah but the mod is still quite a long ways away from completion so it seems likely the custom building work would be finished before we release the mod in which case we can do this

    Here is an idea. Dwarves would not have huge cities on the surface.

    Maybe they could instead have smaller settlements on the surface since most of it would be underground?

    When their settlement upgrades it would really be just the walls, the size shouldnt increase.

    Their fortresses could be smaller but because of this easier to defend.

    As for Rohan, maybe the stone wall could be reskinned to be a taller wooden wall and be made a little weaker? And that could be the most powerfull wall for them. maybe it could have a bit of stone at the bottom.
