    Default A problem...Maybe with SS 6.1

    I have installed 6.1...love it, but i also installed UAI, I read on a earlier thread how King Kong said to copy 3 items from UAI to SS to get the AI from UAI to SS. It works and all but the turns take FOREVER. Just wondering if that is normal or i should do something else...thanks

    the reason the turns are taking forever is because you probably installed Byg III

    I was having horrible turn rates too, but then i upgraded my gfx card last week, and i guess since the campaign map was not so laggy, the turns came faster?:hmmm: If you want faster turns, probably getting rid of big grim's mod is the way to go, honestly i hate it , and it is really not neccesary for a fun game. If you want to have vanilla fast turns, you will have to delete the custom campaign script, altough that would ruin many game aspects such as events and emergent factions i think, but you will still have the core game and skins. Its up to you. And if all else fails, if you havent already upgraded to 2gigs or more of ram, you should, they are cheap and easy to install these days.

    I also recommend turning off campaign shadows, this sped up turns for me aswell.

    So i guess, basing from the post above, that if your graphics card is lagging on the campaign map while its your turn, turn down the graphics on the campaign map, like ice beast said turn off shadows, lower the resolution, etc. After all, the graphics count on the battle map, not on the campaign map.

    My graphics card isnt an issue...I think its a problem with the AI i put in there...What im wondering is if there is some way to just make alliances actually last(as UAI does) and not have the extra turn time?????????

    I didn't think my graphics card was an issue either. Have a X1800XT, which is pretty good when the game came out, but turning off shadows sped up turns by maybe 50%. And I run huge battles pretty well too. Can't hurt to try.

    I do not know about the AI though

    The Ai should not slow your game down any significat amount, what three files did you copy across?

    The only things that slow down a machine are
    a) the map, turn off shadows,
    b) graphics, reduce dust, arrow time, unit numbers
    c) monitor_condition statements in campaign script (well you like BYGIII or you don't)

    Turn times will be longer in 6.1 than vanilla, as there are more factions, but on most machines its <1 minute for all 30 factions.

    Turn off campaign shadows, so during the turns you will not see what AI
    characters are doing. That should make the turns quicker 4 u.

    This might be a dumb question, but how do you turn off the shadows? Main screen only or can you do it in a campaign?

    I think I need to reinstall - pretty sure I accidently installed the supply mod which slows things down badly.

    Thanks. After my trip to Europe, reinstalled the game after a year.

    Amazing the number of details you can forget. I recall how to mod the movement rates of characters, but not stupid things like graphics optimization
