Thread: On Nazgul

    Default On Nazgul

(please excuse me if this has already been asked for, I searched quite a bit but only found comments about what they might look like and their use as a cav/general unit, not about stats).

So, I'm wondering, since there would only be 9 units of this cavalry for Mordor, how would their stats play out? In other tw mods with middle earth I've seen them basically as a very suped up light cavalry unit but still nothing totally spectacular. If they are non replenishable and are so limited in number I think it would be logical to make them quite powerful (as in much stronger then say, a general's bodygaurd that's fully experienced with full upgrades), since "magic" so to speak won't be playing a role here except in the background with stats and traits and stuff.

Nazguls will be very powerful and few-numbered cavalry. But if we make animation, we'll make nazguls on viverns

I am pretty much certain that's not what we decided and that we decided they'd each be a General for Mordor(cavalry) with a small bodyguard(probably black numenorians but we haven't discussed that fully)

Yes yo'll right. But maybe we realize both ideas.

If someone don't understand, why do Nazguls must have bodyguards: we cant make unit troops smaller than 4 or 6 (I don't remember currrently) units

the smallest unit entry in EDU is 4 which is 8 in huge scale(I think) and add the Witch-King as the general it would be a unit of 9 but I still think each Nazgul should be it's own general unit

Black Numenoreans would be a great bodyguard choice as black Numenorean Knights are described when the witch king issues forth for Minas Morgul with his army.

I hope it's like the Lord of the Rings: Total War where you can get Nazgul on Fellbeasts or Cavalry every time they spawn..

got it, you have them as a super-strong light cavalry unit with fear-causing capabilities and endless stamina (can you cancel the effects of fighting and running on stamina?) only one unit of them at a time, every stable of Mordor can recruit them but only one unit can be present at once. That would allow for immortality but also make it fair for the player, only the Witch King should really serve as a general, really an event trigger could prevent Nazgul training and make him appear as a special unit. More thought is needed, this is quite an important point, Playfishpaste.

For any who are interested by my FF on occurrences in Rhun and beyond; I have begun a new project (not because the old one is finished, just opening more room for ideas) about one of the minor characters, Rankal. It is in the Third Age AAR index and here is the link http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=376994

I think we've decided that each Nazgul would be a general with a small bodyguard of black numenorians and there can only be 9(8 Nazgul and 1 Witch-King) of them recruited at one time and they can be trained at certian places like Minas Morgul or Barad-Dur as for the whole stamina thing it's not possible to remove it from a single unit but it can be soo high it will never go down

if you made the nazgul a cavalry unit it'd make them seem less important. so having them as generals i think is the right way to do it. would the nazguls each have names like Khamul the Easterling and then all the others? or are they gonna be called simply: Nazgul

In back days when I was playing Warcraft III there were several custom maps in online which were called "Battle for Middle Earth", actually they were quite good but then I got Rome: Total War and stopped playing it. Anyway in those maps always each nazgūl had own name and names were always same even there were several dozens of different versions of that custom map.

I have posted these names before but now I'll post 'em again:

    Witch-King
    Khamūl the Easterling
    Dwar of Waw
    Jķ Indūr Dawndeath
    Akhōrahil the Blind Sorcerer
    Hoarmūrath of Dķr
    Adūnaphel the Quiet
    Ren the Unclean
    Ūvatha the Horseman

These are fan made mostly but IMO they fit perfectly!

Only Khamūl and Er-Mūrazor (Witch-King) are names made by Tolkien, rest we don't know.
