Prepare to be blown out of the water by magnificent SVGA graphics, an orginal sound track so real you'll want a life jacket!

For those who dont know silent hunter you have props gessed by the front cover that this has got something to do with submarines. And suprise suprise thats what it is all about. Sailing around in an American submarine with a non existant crew (whos ghostly voices come from thin air in times of emergency and response to your orders), sinking 2D Japanese ships (theres 40 in all and they look better than the ones in Aces of The Deep) which all looks quite good looking (especially inside your your sub)

The bad point is when you go up close to the japnese ships and promptly sail through a pixlated mess. But im being too hard considering it was released 9 years ago or so. A high point of Slient Hunter is its excellent sound. From the clear torpedo explosions that are distant but booming to engines and electric motors make their distinctive tones and they don't cut out all create good effect. The sea and lapping of the waves on the side of your sub can also be heard from the bridge.

Silent Hunter is also not just a game as "SH has rounded out this package with a superb documentary section featuring video, narration, and a sub tour from consultant and American sub ace William Gruner. Gruner is the backbone of this title, lending accuracy and authenticity to the whole package. His comments are the highlight of the game's manual, and make for great reading."

"The finishing touch on this versatile simulation is a fast, simple scenario editor that grants you control over every fact, simple scenario editor that grants you control over every facet of an engagement. Type, number, experience, and battle quality of the enemy; weather, time of day, date in the war, and water conditions. The exhaustive options are further augmented by the realism and difficulty settings."
