Thread: In The Blood

  1. #1

    Default In The Blood

This mod is being developed on SS6.1, and I'm desperately after testers

I will be doing an SS specific version after initial release.

Hey man I'd love to test it out for you. However I wouldn't be able to start testing till this Friday, after that I will have tons of time to test it for you.

Are you per chance using rolling ephitets for surnames? If so a side effect would be that you no longer can have any other ephitet.

How does it work for factions which do not have a family tree?

To err is human, but to really foul things up you need a computer.

@ Hounf of Culan - PM me when your ready, if you want to wait, I hope to have Byzantium done by the weekend

@Quark - How do you mean rolling epithets?
    - And I haven't tested with such a faction yet - I'm guessing you mean one like the Teutonic Order? Obviously if there aren't children the name wont be passed on. That doesn't mean generals won't get the names, I'd do them so people can bribe the Teutonic generals etc.

I mean you set the surname up as an ephitet, and reset it every turn, so it overides any other changes. Then you check this for any children.

You can get any other epithets. The surname remains until the gain another epithet, as seen here:

A character gains the trait " X Blood " when he comes of age, so it's only tested once - and it's 100% guaranteed

    Update:

    Heres the plan:

    Initial Release:

    Work in progress

    - Revised system this afternoon - now, relations are tracked via females (didn't do this before). So now, if there was a Capet three generations back on someone's mothers side - you'll know about it.

    - Due to revisions, starting from scratch. Working through factions alphabetically. Currently - 50 surnames for Byzantium are done.

    - Should start on next faction by the end of the week.

    Note:
Starting bloodlines, eg. Komnenos and Capet will be the one and only time in game they are available. Once the line is extinct it can't be revived.

    Also:
Any help would be greatly appreciated. NO modding experience is required to help out. All thats needed is someone with a computer.

Any suggestions would also be greatly appreciated

    Thanks, tzar

ekrogh - how do you mean, for example - with the scots, they will gain "Clan Wallace" and have "Wallace" as a surname. (best i can do) I could probably do the same with denmark/norway

knight_12 - it only affects traits + descr_strat (family trees) - so there should eb no problems

    Update, update, update!

Okay - i have 130 english names (norman/english mix). It is these you get to see the preview of

Seeing as most will have seen screens of generals with names, how bout some agents?

Next up, two generals (for old times sake)

Now...we have some problems. Due to the nature of these traits/names, there appears to be cases of 'double or nothing'.

We have agents/generals with no name - which in my opinion is preferable to doubles - which is two traits occuring.

DOUBLES - this is when a general/agent gains more than one base Name-trait (eg. Of Dunmore Blood AND Of Canmore Blood) - see Gerard Walgrave below. These traits produce the epithet (surname) of the agent/general.

For those who now the export_descr_traits, the chance of gaining a name has a 1% chance - using ther conditions i've made it almost nill that a general will get a double. They can still get nothing however.

Agents - i'm still fiddling with the chances for their names.

Here is an extreme case of 'doubling':

    QUESTION FOR THE PEOPLE?

1 - Would, you - as the players, be more accepting of doubling (every character has a surname, albeit the traits are a bit messed) or nothing (most characters get names, soem dont (historically, not every person had a surname)?

2 - Which faction do you want to see next (except the Papal States - i'm talking about playable factions here)?

    Please post your opinions.

    Still looking for help also

I would rather see double blood because atleast the guy has a last name whereas with not blood hes just a first named guy where you have no idea where he comes from as to the second question I'd like to see the papal states redone, it is really annoying having generals named Guido IX and such.

I do have a question about the double or nothing blood though; how is the blood passed down in the doubles, do the children inherit both bloods or just one? Also with no blood I might support it if for instance the mother's blood is given to the child since the father, having no blood of which to speak, must be of little importance on a nobility scale.

Also I am willing to help with the project if you still need support
