    Default Creating a World - EDA\EDB\names converter for data\text files

    One day I got tired of repeating all my entries from the look up files to the data bases just for the sake of a parenthesis. You know, that fancy bracket. So I thought to myself: my spreadsheet has got some really nifty functions, why not check there?

    And Lo and Behold: the name converter was born!

    Later a template for export_buildings, export_ancillaries (plus EDA entries) followed.

    Instructions for use
    - included on top of the sheets

    Note
    - The descr_names_lookup file is no longer required for kingdoms

    It is in XLS format. Haven't worked with Open Office, so I wouldn't know.

    Thanks a lot for this gigantus. I've always found the addition of names to be a most tedious process. This should speed thing up a lot..

    looks like i actually have to post in this forum for once

    with your name converter

    A) do the names have to be in alphabetical order?
    B) are you supposed to delete all of the names currently in "data/text/names.txt"?
    C) faction specification required when putting into "data/text/names.txt"?\
    D) do last names and female names go in here as well or just the general names?

    This would have been better here, I guess. Nevertheless:

    A = No
    B = No
    C = No - only in data\descr_names (names need to be in the correct faction slots there)
    D = All names that appear in data\descr_names have to be in data\text\names as well

    Update (3.1)
    Corrected formulas in the EDB sheet - the 'descr' entry got duplicated in 'descr_short' instead of displaying the actual entry.
    Also added templates for two more cultures (editable)

    Update (4.0)
    Added a sheet for the generating of ancillary entries (EDA and export_ancillaries) - it came very handy when creating the 'Settlement Title' ancillaries for 1648

    That's really weird. I pasted a large list of names into the first column, nothing happens. Type names manually, nothing happens. Both other sheets work, its just the name sheet being unresponsive. Otherwise a good tools.

    Edit: The first entry works (the one already there), does that mean it's one at a time? (edit: It's by default one at a time, but if you copy paste the second and third column entry down like 100 rows, then you can paste one massive list in and get it all done at once.)

    Underneath the instructions on the spreadsheet, you did only the first step, not the second one:

    Simply copy the names into column A
    Then copy B12 and C12 as far down as the names in column A
    Then copy all the names from column B into data/names_lookup.txt (not required for kingdoms)
    Then copy all the names from column C into data/text/names.txt

    Useful tool. I'd done this already for the names but the sheet for building information is a huge help, especially for enabling existing buildings for additional cultures. Saves a lot of copy pasting to replace "DO NOT TRANSLATE" entries. Thanks.
