I believe < Shved > used the LOTR:TW map as a base but I'm not 100% sure
Other probs with using max map size are if you then want to script garrisons, more garrisons slows down etc, otoh, haveing North south east and west portions of region is no bad thing, if you have a copy of the Map of Me you can use better names to be sure as there are enough such names already provided in most cases, secondly depending on Movement points, your map needs to reflect the probably movement rate in whatever time period a turn is being represented without being to unreal, so big map small movement is ok for one time scale etc, which rather depends on what scale in time your going for, is it a more civ style of nations progresing through a 1000 years or an Age, or meerly a couple of years.
we're going to be increasing the map size now it won't be the absolute full size but it will be double it's current size and it's a beta and we're going to have to double the regions and fix the names so don't worry about that
I like the idea of a short distance of water between the two. Landing several armies on Osgiliath would be class. Although, I think a bridge would work better in this mod. Mainly because the AI would get confused (even if the AI was improved), basically they would probably go for Cair Andros instead of launching a naval invasion of Osgiliath. And if they do make a naval invasion, they probably wouldn't land near Osgiliath
Cool.
That would be good, yes, but Mordor should have the northern part of Osgiliath ONLY if they capture it.It wasn't like in the movies-Mordor holding the Ithilien part and Gondor the other one.Osgiliath was like a fortification of Gondor, the whole city. There were only two events in which Mordor held one part or whole of Osgiliath-at the time of the beginning of the Hunt of the Ring and during the Siege of Minas Tirith.Mordor a one side if they have taken half of the city and we can make a short distance of water between the two so they are landing with their boats?
There was a bridge, but it could only be open by the other side where the rangers and men of gondor waited, so they came with botes, so?
it was a bridge of wood

I remember there was another person on these forums, I think his username was Light or something. But he was working on a Third Age: Total War alone and I believe the project was disbanded. The reason why I bring this up is beacuse I asked Light if designing cities like Minas Tirith was actually possible. The answer was 'no' and something about releasing a source code (whatever that is). So, I was just wondering if anything has changed since then, and if it's now possible to modify and design the cities as you please.
Light leave off the work on this mode. But now he returned and we hope he'll join us. Arhitecture is still uneditable, but we hope it's temporarily.
In strategy map special cities will be unique

Great, great job! I don't care if a few settlemets are out of place, I'm sure you'll fix that/make whatever is needed.

well not yet at least not 100% but by the time it's released maybe check out the progress here
Love the work I've seen on this, really impressed. Just a quick comment though,
Haven't checked to see if this has been mentioned already (no time...) but where's the sea of Nurn? There is supposed to be a large lake in southern Mordor which is surrounded by a lush(ish) area. This is the bread-basket of Mordor and where all those little orcs get their food from...
For exact positioning, check an atlas of middle-earth.
