There is no disease I spit on more than treachery.
I have vanilla RTW 1.5, I installed the mod in the RTW folder, not in any
other, I downloaded twice with the same error, but I think I might know the problem.
See, this problem has been recently appearing with my vanilla RTW, even before I installed RS, and that is it CTDs on the
first screen, same for BI and the Alexander expansion. It didn't affect the mods I had at the time so I left it alone, could this affect RS1.5?
Is the only option now a complete re-install of Rome:Total War and this mod?
I would expect that if this problem was hitting vanilla RTW then it would affect all games.
Are the mods that still work 'mod folder' versions? That is they install into a sub-folder in the main game folder (like BI). If you look at the shortcut target they will probably have a -mod:TIC (where TIC is the folder where a game has been installed).
If they are mod folder versions then copy them somewhere else on your hard-drive (or CD-ROM or DVD-ROM). You can then copy the folders back when you've finished.
So, it sounds like 'something' has happened to you R:TW install.
The best way forward is to uninstall and then re-install the game. After you've done this and the install works OK then I'd suggest taking a copy of the entire folder and then applying any future mods to that copied folder. This will preserve your RTW install and you should never have to re-install again.
You may want to take a copy of any save games and replays if you want to keep them.

No problems. When I first started playing RTW games I ended up doing multiple uninstalls / re-installs. Someone posted in a forum details on how to create multiple copies of the game and I've not had to re-install RTW again (apart from when I change desktops).
Being able to create a new folder for a mod, copy in the RTW version I need and then apply the mod is easy. I do this for games that are mod switch versions.
It does take more space but I know an install of one mod will not affect an existing mod.

I think I will shoot myself..
Okay the install worked, the game started up, but when I click "imperial campaign" it doesn't do anything except display a message that says to select an option in the list
And then, when I try to start the Prologue, it CTDs!!
When I try to play a custom battle, after I finish selecting the army components and I click "play battle" it
goes back to the screen where you select the factions, and then doesn't let me proceed to the unit selection screen without going
back to the original menu and starting the whole process over!
Also this error showed up on exiting RS:
"Generic Error:
DATABASE_TABLE error found: unrecognised record id roman archer requested."
edit- The same error also affects other mods, too..
Were you trying to play RTW or RS?
The message 'select item from list' usually means you've installed a mod that requires RTW 1.5 RTW BI 1.6 and it's not patched to that level.
If you are unsure of the version of the game then launch the game (RTW and RTW BI) the version number is shown on the top right hand side of the options menu. I'd always recommend looking at this as it at least verifies what you really have rather than what you think you have!
The thing to do with this install process is to test it at each stage.
1) Uninstall completely (again)
2) Install RTW (whatever version you have)
3) Launch game, start a campaign and a custom battle
4) Patch it to the next level
5) Repeat of (3)
Although it can be a pain to do at least you know where the failure is if there is one! Rather than get to the end of a multi-step process and find it hasn't worked.
If you then want to install BI then take a copy of the folder 'as is' - it's a working RTW! and then install RTW BI. You will find that installing RTW BI over a RTW 1.5 will downgrade the RTW install to 1.3 (?). So you need to patch RTW again to 1.5 and then RTW BI to 1.6.
Once you've done that - test the install by launching the game. If everything is OK take a copy of that folder. Either keep the original game folder as a clean version of the game or the copied version.
Once you know you have a clean working copy of the game then apply a mod to a copy of the game folder.
I seem to recall that when I last installed RTW and RTW BI on my new desktop in March 2007 I took a copy at every step (most of these were discarded).
The other thing you should make sure is that the shortcut target has the switch -show_err added to the end (edited: I see that you've done that from your last post).
The one I used looks like (I am using RTW ALX);
"C:\Program Files\Activision\RTW Roma Surrectum 1.5a\RomeTW-ALX.exe" -nm -show_err -mod: -movie_cam
Hope that helps......
Edited: Make sure that you install the mod to the correct place. I am fairly sure that RS installs into the main game folder - that is where the EXEs are. Make sure you read the install instructions.

Eureka! It works! Thank you, Brusilov, for your patience and your extensive knowledge about RS errors
edit- Wow! This mod is breathtaking and beatiful!
No problems, enjoy the mod!
A lot of install errors are similar with other RTW mods. I've installed more than my fair share of mods. I was very happy when someone told me to install into copy folders and keep the original clean. That's saved numerous re-installs (I have the 3 CD-ROM original version).
