I can get 28k, 13.5k and 6k (even more) in 3dmarks....(considered small for overclockers. especially hard-core overclockers, I'm not like that)

but for daily use, I don't want and don't need to forced my hardware to working extra...

That's cool, to each their own. I personally like to squeeze the crap out of my hardware and play games at the best settings they'll run. I have a regular untouched PC as well, but OC'ing is a hobby

Anybody else that DOES like their hardware to do a little more.

OC will probably cause your hardware to fail sooner than it would normaly. Good for guys who want to constantly be replacing parts.

Well...yes, overclocking MAY shorten the lifespan of your cpu. But the average lifespan of a prcessor has not been determined. Some studies say, based on their construction that they could last a thousand years or more. The average USABLE lifespan of a cpu is about 25 years.

And what kills a cpu isn't overclocking it. It's the HEAT caused by overclocking. Hence the reason for big heatsinks, water cooling, phase change coolers, etc. My current PC has been overclocked since it was built. I have a P4 1.4@2.0Ghz(5 years old), a 2.6 @3.3(3 years old), and the current 3.0 @4.0Ghz.
YES, IT WILL VOID ANY WARRANTY. You OVERCLOCK AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
While I admit I have fried a graphics card, but it was because of my own carelessness. Not the fact that I pushed the hardware.

I spend money on new hardware because I LIKE to, not because I have to.

And if you ARE interested in overclocking...do LOTS OF RESEARCH....BEFOREHAND.

BUT, Overclocking....done properly....can be a viable way of holding off that inevitable upgrade a little longer.

If you need to ask don't do nothing yet...

as far as i can tell, overclocking video cards yields very little in terms of visible results. the improvement will most likely not be noticeable - sure it could get you an extra 1000 points in 3dmark, or 1-3fps, but to some its jsut not worth it.

PM me Full system specs...mobo type, RAM, etc....

And if it's a DeLL or an Intel Motherboard...don't bother, you can't OC them.

PPR heres the content of my PM, i cant send PMs now, it must be another server error.

Hi PPR ive been to that link where you're in 3rd thats pretty impressive. Ive also wandered around in the last couple of hours in the forum and reading some guides but that kind of language is almost chinese to me (bios, mobo and etc).

So here are my specs that ive taken from computer>proprerties Pentium IV CPU 2.80 GHz/2.79 GHz, 768 MB of RAM. I have a Geforce FX 5200 and ive just installed latest drivers (67.02). This is probably incomplete info, so if you need more tell me where i can check it. Thanks

P.S.: Ive just checked you post again, ive got an Intel Pentium so that means i wont be able to clock it?

EDIT: ive downloaded a program called MAX extreme but i cant remember whats for, but i know its for overclocking.

No PM for me either right now.

    First, Download this:
    CPUZ
    Get v. 1.27
Next, run the program and take a screenshot of each tab. PM me with results or start a new thread(if permissable)

This thread was meant to be a gathering of the overcloked PC's on this site.
I guess I have the highest overclocked PC on this site.

And don't touch the MAX extreme. Software overclocking is never really good unless you've already maxed out the hardware.(and it's never really all that stable)..and even then you'd want to use a program called ClockGen.

Agreed. I have overclocked graphics cards in the past and have yet to see a performance boost that justifies the risk. Processors on the other hand......are WAY cheaper than graphics cards. And get a BIG boost from overclocking.

-EDIT- BTW, Dan-grrr, you have an Intel motherboard, stable hardware overclocking is not possible for you as Intel doesn't include the necessary settings in the BIOS...Sorry
