Thread: The colors of Middle Earth

  1. #1

Default The colors of Middle Earth

I thought I would start a topic about the colors of middle earth, as this is in my opinion a very important
aspect of the feel of the game..

What I'm imagining would be the focus of this thread, is the different faction colors (like the red and black
colors of the Haradrim, or black and white of Gondor, and so on and so forth), the colors used in the skins
of each unit, and the like..

Personally I would like to know, which colors are associated with the Easterlings, Eriador, the Elves (both
kinds), and Mordor. And I would like to ask your opinion on how far the units clothing should stray from
the faction colors, or should some faction refrain from having a connecting color?

Hope this has not already been discussed past point of no return

    Mordor: Black and red

    Gondor: Blue and white

Elves: Dark Green and Gold, personally.
    Mordor: Light Red/Dark Red

Whether or not they match the unit types, I don't know.

Gondor seems more of a blue/white
Isengard is an easy one, black.

Rhun's symbol is a red and white bull. So it should be red and white

I also think Isengard should be more black and white, with an emphasis on black, as there is after all the
white hand of Saruman to take into account,

and Gondor I think should have a dark blue and white color, more so than black/white..

Are we talking about flags, because Rhun has to be red and white then.

I think of Rohan as more green and gold than green and white. :hmmm:

and the orcs of misty mountains should be grey. A nice cold, rocky color.

    High Elves:

Flag and symbol: Blue and golden
    Armor: Silver and bronze
    Clothes: Blue and grey

    Silvan Elves:

Flag and symbol: Silver and green
    Armor: Bronze
    Clothes: Green and brown

I chosed these "sad" colours because elves were living autumn of their power so colours should be on High Elves grey and blue and on Silvan Elves green and brown. That's why I think that armors of noldor elves should be changed to silver or bronze instead of gold because that colour doesn't fit to end of Third Age.

I was refering to the colors most often associated with each faction, which I think is normally represented
by the colors of the flags..

    i agree with VARJON

EDIT: The Warden of Lothlorien had some Golden clothes because they represented the autumn or something like that

I think Varjon's structure is very good, as it sums up the purpose of this thread quite nicely,
so I think I will continue along the line:

    Isengard:

Flag and Symbol: Black and White
    Armor:Black/Very Dark Brown
    Clothes:Black/Dark (Filthy) Brown

    Rohan:

Flag and Symbol: Green and White
Armor: Steel (bright grey)/ Shades of Copper
Clothes: Various, but mainly shades of Green and White

    Those are only my suggestions..

Elven Armor was bronze because it resembled leaves in autumn which represented them leaving Middle-Earth.
