Silent pre-battle speech.

Hey I play 6.1 without the submods and 90% of my pre-battle speeches are just silent (only people cheering). I'm playing Kiev Rus, late era.

Had the same problem playing Turks with LTC.

Try deleting the events.idx and events.dat files from your Stainless_Steel_6\data\sounds folder.

Ok I moved the files to another drive. Still the same problem. Most of the sounds are ok, only the speech itself is gone except for the one-liner speeches.

Yes occasionally, and only the one-sentence speeches. Most of the time it is silent except for the men cheering.

I get the same silent speaches for both kawaks and lithy, are these factions supposed to have speaches? Will try the fix later...

If you're having problems with speeches can you let us know what language your main installation is in.

for example if you have the German version

Important note for those who own the German game version:
In order to get correct voices and sounds, follow these steps:
1. download this file
http://files.filefront.com/descr+sou.../fileinfo.html
2. put it into Stainless_Steel_6/data and overwrite the existing file.
3. go into Stainless_Steel_6/data/sounds and delete the events.dat and event.idx files

How do I know what language the game is in? I bought the collectors edition in Norway and the game and chose the English language option. IIRC french was the default choise for some reason so I don't think it was the UK version but rather the International one.

So Rozanov or anyone else, any tips? I could download the german fix, but I doubt I have a german version anyway unless that's the standard european one.

when you first install M2:TW it asks what language you want it and that should be the default language from then on.

you do sometimes have to wait ages before the general decides to give his talk.

it's possible that some factions don't get such long speeches? (dunno - never wait long enough to find out.)

im pretty sure only the teutonic order and the old vanilla factions give full speeches

Hmmm....I had a look at the pre-battle speeches text file and indeed most of the factions only get one-liner speeches rather than the whole swathe of speech lines triggered by the general's traits :hmmm:
