I've been contributing "religiously" to those neverending councils, but I haven't noticed any benefits in my priests. Do the councils really give any improvement, and does not paying for them cause any bad effects?

Since there's no notice for traits increase from those events, its bit hard to notice, but they are there.

I've noticed that my priests tend to get the Monk ancilliary within a few turns after a religious council. At 1.500 florins a pop these monks sure are expensive
