    Default the one ring?

There of course cant be a lord of the rings mod without the one ring.

Maybe it could be put in the game as an item for generals to posses? When they have it they cant die of old age and it could boast their abilities greatly, and when killed it will be transfered to the general that lead the attack.

The ring could also be transfered between your generals.

The possesion of the ring could cause a lot of effects.

the general could get some sinister traits over the years, but their hitpoints, the troop morale and movement speed could be improved. It would also cause opposing armies to fear this general more, causing them to flee sooner.

Loyalty could be decreased, which would make sense since it corrupts.

I was thinking about significantly reduced stats when a human posseses it and increased stats for the evil masterminds auch as witch king, sauron etc. Just giving my ten cents worth.

If we are talking about Rings of Power.....don't forget that the elves have their Three. As it is said in LOTR they cannot be used for war but we see that Galadriel defends very well Lorien with the White Ring in her possession. And no evil comes to Rivendel where Elrond is master of Vilya-the mightiest of the Three.Of course there is the problem of Naria-it belongs to Gandalf but everything cannot be perfect. And don't forget that each Nazgul have of the Nine and Sauron holds three of the Seven.Second and Third Age are about the Rings of Power(well, the Second is mostly focused on Numenor...)and I think there should be a way to get them inside this mod.

Hmm, but didn't Círdan say to Gandalf when he gave Narya to him that he should use it to rise spirits of good races and unite them war against Mordor.

It controls the power of fire , now didint gandalf defeat that nasty fire covered monster......(cough coug) the barlog ? XD

maybe gandalf can have a less fire damage on its unit trait ? XD

What LOTR total war did on the ONE RING was first the character would have good traits popping up (self security , tropp movement / command , fear factor for enemies) , but after some turns bad traits come up ( - loyalty for M2TW , movement points decrease , health turns ill , deplomatic disadvantage comes in where all nations hate you and eventually go to war with you)

pS: i hope ALL the rings are implanted in game XD , the one , three elves , three dwarves (make dwarves have a special goal to getting them back) , 9 nazguls

The three rings shouldn't become bad. The one and nine should.

Yes, three should give only good traits, but if dwarf gets back a dwarven ring it should give also good stats but give a little more dread.

I like the Idea ,but the ONE Ring should be more powerful then bad or else it is useless.EX: I don't want to kill this General cause he has the one ring.

Also the nine rings aren't bad. They only corrupt men. That bring said any Elvish General with a ring (besides the one) should only be effected positively. And maybe dwarves. I'm not sure how the rings effect them. :hmmm:

It would also be neat that any captain that recovers a ring will become a general. (If any of this can be used)

Hah, maybe if your general has the one ring his bodyguard could get the "hide anywhere" trait!

Dwarven rings made their owners to gain more mithril, gold and other riches. But it also made them lost their treasuries pretty quick. Ered Mithrin and original Erebor falled partly because dwarven ring made them so rich. Dwarven rings made their owners greed. Maybe even Khazad-dűm fall because king of it became too greed and digged too deep.

I like the idea of more rings.

I dont know about making humans weaker when having the one ring though.

It did extend Bilbo's life and made him age slower.

The ring could just give traits that are more in line with evil ideals than with good ideals.

    It could greatly boast dread.

When Mordor gets the ring it should have a greater effect though. Maybe it could spawn Sauron as a very powerfull general with the ring in his possesion, and when he is killed the ring would go to the general of the army that killed him.

To balance this out, Mordor should have a weakness elsewhere though.

There could also be ring related traits perhaps, even to those that dont have the ring.

A relation with the ring could be a line of traits, ranging from determination to destroy it to an obsession to have it.

The ring give Gandalf the power of fire and brings mens Spirit higher.

Tolkein states that Sauron's evil doesn't affect Dwarves and Elves avoid it so Rings shouldn't affect these races
    except the One Ring and.

I think, if it is possible to script, that when a general gets a hold of the
one ring of power, he or she should get a great bonus (if it is true to the
lore, this bonus should be expanded exponentially with the power of the
wielder, although this is hard if not impossible to implement).

But after some turns (perhaps around 20) the general, and all his units
turn rebel, unless its owner is mordor.

And I don't know if it's even possible to transfer the ring from one general
to another, but I don't think it should be in the mod, as no man, elf or dwarf
would want to part with it.

This way, the ring will give a great boost of power, but only for a limited time
whereafter the penalty of loosing a general will apply..

Btw, I thought the ring wasn't going to be in the mod (at least not with
first release) But I would like to see it implemented nonetheless..

Hmmm but if sauron get's the one ring, wouldn't that mean sauron could get another form and walk middle earth again? Personally I think that should ideally be what happens if sauron gets the one ring to bara'dur.
