Thread: Question regarding army sizes

    Default Question regarding army sizes

I was wondering, in this mod is it at all like RS and SPQR in the sense that there are MUCH less pointless battles, where the AI just builds those tiny 3 unit armies and sends them wave after wave? Or are battle more important and meaningful?

I realize this mod is to create a depth amongst Greek factions, and I even think I played an older version of this mod some time ago, however I don't really remember. Why do you like this mod?

In XGM the battles are more meaningful, there are no 0 recruitment times or extremely cheap units. So if you lose an army...it will take a while to build another up.
Depending on your starting location on the map you could be subject to wave after wave of full stacks. With AI bonuses on (install option), you will have to defend against many stacks...with them (AI bonuses) off, the stacks are fewer but still full.
The mod is fun to play while not being too ahistorical and historically accurate without being a pain-in-the-ass. It's IME the most stable mod around. DimeBagHo, the mod creator constantly updates the mod including adding new units and changing the skins to give extra flavor, takes suggestions from his fan base and responds to questions and problems.
Plus, the Spartan Royal Guard and other Elite units. Just a fun stable mod all around...Plus the little XGM community. Hope this helps!

I play the BI version BTW

Oh there's a BI version, I'll have to give that a try after I finish playing around a bit more with RS then. Does the BI version require 1.6 patch?

No, I believe it can be used with 1.5 as well.

hmmmm....we disagree, I could be wrong though.

edit: Nope, I'm right it says in the readme 1.5 is acceptable .

When he says 1.6, he means for BI. 1.5 is acceptable if you use the RTW.exe. If you use BI.exe, you need 1.6.

The 1.5 patch is for RTW only. The 1.6 patch is for RTW + BI. If you have BI you need to install the 1.6 patch.
