the first steam powerd vessels in war was during
greek war of independence .
In reality at that time they didnt have any big advantage in comparisons with other types.

Yes but Cochrane tried to bring a steamship to the Chilean war of independence. It didn't get there till the end, and so never got used. He did the same thing in the Greek war of independence.

most early steam=powered warships were converted frigates, sloops, brigs, and battleships. The steam engine was used in conjuctiion with iron-plated hulls, to make up for the increased tonnage and it also gave the advantage of going against the wind.
The first purpose built steam ship was Le Napoleon in 1851, a French 90 gun battleship that signaled the end of the age of sail and the beginning of the industrial age.
