Right then. We are in desperate need of a Princeps Senatus if both Consuls intend to remain at the front again...
So Im no longer acting?

Once again I am honoured to be elected Consul of the Republic.
I however am still here on the greek front.
All however seems to be quiet and I do not know why.
I have sent through our current standing and that should have arrived before the new year.
I do however have one small request.
I choose senator Lucius Aurelius Lepidus as Princep Senatus for life.
He has been around longer than most and I do not see a better candidate.
I do realise that my co-consul should be electing a Princep Senatus yet I feel that this is a different case.
I would like it if a division can be seen to have this honour bestowed on our most august senator.
Long live Rome.

OOC:Caesar, you can't name another PS\Censor when you are not the Junior nor you can propose to give life-time office to another, it's totally unconstitutional. Sorry old friend but I'll have to lay down my veto should you push this one...I choose senator Lucius Aurelius Lepidus as Princep Senatus for life.

I support making senator Lucius Aurelius Lepidus as Princep Senatus for life.
People will believe a lie because they want it to be true; or they're afraid it's true.
Given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe its true, or because they're afraid it might be true. Peoples' heads are full of knowledge, facts and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.
ooc:Can someone send me to the front to die?
ic:"I support the consul's idea,he has done the job more than others."
O Sancta Simplicitas!
OCC:Just for that we keep him far away from any front!

"Senators, must I press a second time the fact that the proposal is unconstitutional? The Consul may proposes as he wishes, it doesn't make it so. The Law and Constitution of this Republic will be preserved! As Tribune of Plebeians, I cannot and will not tolerate these modernities reach the vote."

ic:"I said I support the idea,it's up to the junior consul to decide who should be the Princep Senatus."
O Sancta Simplicitas!
Well Gaius Fabius.
My father as you well know, is very fond of our constitution yet sometimes exceptions must be made.
I propose in my fathers name an amendment to the constitution.
To make the postion of Princep Senatus an appointment for life.
This having a new princep decided every year is a tedious task and one that requires great thought.
Not that our previous consuls have made wrong choices but that the appointment should be given to the most deserving.
It in itself is an achievement beyond doubt and that is not something to be dished out yearly.
How does this suit your tastebuds?
Servius Labienus 'the younger' (32)

I support the idea!

"Senator Labienus, the Republican processes can hardly qualify as tedious tasks! Maybe the plebes will some day grow weary of standing in lines in the Campus Martius each year, waiting to vote for the Consuls and we here are presented with a dictatorship to counter the yearly elections? After all, it does consumes much time waiting in lines and much thinking to cast your vote too...
Now, jokes aside, I cannot take action against a constitutional amendment. If indeed it is the will of the People and Senate of Rome to make the office of Princeps Senatus for life, then I can only applaud Lucius Aurelius Lepidus for his most-worthy appointment."

"I shall veto this action. It is unconstitutional, just as Fabius says."
An amendment we shall have.

Junior Consul.
I ask that a division be taken to see this amendment made to the constitution.
To make the position of Princep Senatus a life time position.

"Perhaps naming a Princeps Pro Tempora to start the division? I propose the most able... hmmm.... who's here now.... hmmm.... oh, yes! Claudius Clarus!"

"Very well then. But if he is elected to that position for life, shall he be there as long as he lives? or will there be conditions for him to conform to in order to keep his position?"
"In fact Senators, I think that I'll throw my lot to Tiberius Octavius Ulpianus for Princeps Pro Tempora."
OOC: Tiberius, when you feel like it, make the poll will you?
OOC2: I felt like remembering the old old days so I chose your old sig!
