A Proposal

Senators! Lend me your ears!

We have a proposal for you! Who among you have not wondered if we can bring You Are The Senate to the medieval timeframe. There is an RPG called Medieval Democracy, but that is based on the autocratic Holy Roman Empire, featuring an emperor for life, something any true Republican should despise. Our proposal is to use Medieval II - Total War to play as the state of Milan to recreate the medieval city council.

Many Italian cities in the Middle Ages had a city council to govern the city. We are going to recreate that council in Milan (yes, we know Milan had a duke, we're gonna use it anyway). The faction leader would be an elected, temporary Doge.

Please note, this has nothing to do with You Are The Senate, but we are looking for some experienced people to get this thing off the ground. We will try to get our own forum and explain everything, but for now we need some players to get started.

Hmmm, well I'm planning on rebooting my Bootcamp next week, and split my harddrive so I have a larger space on Windows than on Mac. Maybe, after I've rebooted, I'll install M2TW and then I'll join you guys. But it would be interesting, and it's definitely a good idea.

We have the basic careers and the different governmental bodies lined out - we even have two parties -, but atm we are still trying to decide on what mod to use. Any advice is welcome (no Kingdom mods please).

I have the retrofit mod, so IDK if I'll be able to play the vanilla or not. But why Milan? They backstab everyone. How about....oh let's just say...Scotland?

Sing me up please, I'll check and see if I can still play vanilla or not.

Well,I know only 2 major mods,they are Stainless Steel and Deus Lo Vult and The Long Road that has a 900 turn game.In SS,they got Templars so we could play them.

I'll join up, count me in. I reccomend SS 6.1, seems as good a mod as any to play with, a nice balance. Plus, I have it already installed

AHHH, sorry, yes, it does. My bad, I didn't see that you didn't want Kingdoms.

Well, there's always older versions of SS...I think 4.1 works without Kingdoms?

I have tried it, and it is very cool, but its movement point are quite odd, it takes an army 3 years to reach Florence from a point just north of Milan.

Winter severely shorten movement points. I dunno, I'm sure we can all mod our game to increase movement.

People aren't going to want to join a game that makes them mod their game.

I'd suggest The Long Road. It has a lot of good factions, nice skins, isn't supremely difficult, but won't have you rolling in cash either.

I'm not going through another dowloading sequence. I've already had enough problems getting the retrofit mod and RS (not you guys fault, most of it is just problems I kinda caused...).

Sorry but the only Medievall 2 mod I would try out is http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=620
and that is a kingdom mod in the ancient time frame.

But that's not what we're going for, we want a Medieval time frame, and no Kingdoms mod. If we want another ancient one, we could carry on using RS.
