With only three and a half weeks of uni left I am suddenly faced with the prospect of summer vacation. I will catch up on some reading I've been meaning to do! Several books have been sitting neglected on the shelf. Their spines stare at me plaintively before I go to bed.

Is there something wrong with the curial vote? For the two standing amendments the vote tallies are hidden in the threads, but in the main menu I see this:

How soon can you have gun battles in FOTS? I love the way they were set up in NTW and will purchase FOTS if they are similar.

What do you mean? The basic levy infantry have guns and are serviceable when everyone else is using them (think yari ashigaru). To have line infantry you need to build a basic level school so it's fairly accessible. For the fancy imperial/shogunate/unique infantry research and more buildings are required.

Yup it's basically a race to modernise. The AI recruits guns aplenty from levy and regular line in the beginning to more beasty things later on. AI also recruits arty decently well for the most part.
