Thread: Getting this to work on the STEAM version of Barbarian Invasion

Default Getting this to work on the STEAM version of Barbarian Invasion

Here's how I managed to do it with Flagellum Dei, for future reference:

1- Download Flagellum Dei and install into your rome total war gold directory. The complete path will probably be C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\rome total war gold

2- Duplicate the folder called ibfd in your rome total war directory, putting the copy in your BI folder (yes, this will take about a gig of extra space)

3- Open Steam, select and right-click Rome: Total War Gold, go to Properties. Under the General tab, click on Set launch options...

4- Copy-and paste the bolded text into the field: -nm -show_err -mod:bi\ibfd

Now whenever you launch Barbarian Invasion, you should get to play this most excellent mod.

Discussion: I wish there was a way to do this withous having to waste an extra GB of disk space, but this was the only way I could get it to work. Having ibfd in just the BI folder will let the game launch with this mod, but it can't find important files. Having the ibfd just in the rome total war gold folder will actually break BI. Merging ibfd with the data folder, overwriting duplicate files, won't work.

I can't find the ifbd folder in the total war gold directory in the latest install. Any clue why I wouldn't see it?

    Welcome ycojohn,
I'm really not sure but he may have been referring to the rio folder and not the ibfd folder...

Just curious. Has anyone tried this solution for other mods?

The reason I ask this, because it seems CA had removed the horde_minor_units feature in the 1.61 version.

The script error is for the VI2 1.7 mod and I think the 1.6 version also have the same script error, but I haven't checked that yet.

Apparently the RTW Gold Edition on Steam is updated e.g RTW is 1.51, BI is 1.61 and that's what I see via the options in-game.

Can confirm that this solution works for ExRM using Steam BI. Just replace ‘-mod:bi\ibfd’ with ‘-mod:bi\[mod folder]’ Someone should sticky this solution
