"Senator the cost of actually conquering and keeping Illyria, in terms of lives, far outwieghs any reward we get from trade and mining. If we fight a one front war... we will lose. The Greeks will be able to bring their entire army to bear. As for the mainland becoming a defensive war, its still on our terms, and if they bring stacks south, then our theatre of operations north will benefit greatly. If the bring stacks north, then our theatre of operations south will benefit... It is a win win situations Senator."
Caeso Decimus Crassus (32)
Dearest Tribune, do you realise what will happen if they turn their northern armies south? I do not think you have considered the fact that our northern legions will be able to move freely across the countryside, burning and pillaging it. Face it Tribune, if we go through with this attack, the Greeks will be between a rock and a very hard place. If we go through with your plan however our legions will stand no chance whatsoever. I implore you to reconsider.
"Marcus Aielus, reinforcements would have to pass through the forts indicated on the map... it would be an easy thing to dispose of them... think leonidas and the 300 on a much larger scale."
Caeso Decimus Crassus (32)
Thats why we need help from other nations, they will surly wish to be apart of this glorious cause to liberate greece and it colonies.
Her´s one Plan.
Take Illyria and make up a field base to reinforcements that should arrive with boat from the Italic peninsula. When all this is done then could we send in troops to concurring the whole greek mainland without being concerned about being attacked on two fronts. Also will the mines on the Illyrian coast bring in enough money to secure our economy.
In addition to this Should we block the greek´s main harbors.
Hope that you see the meaning of this and support us in our noble fight for roman life's

"There is no reconsideration needed Marcus. The people's best interests must be protected. Would you have us reevaluate the importance of the people?"
This is ridiculous.
Like old wifes ranting and raving around a fish market.
The consuls have all the legions they need.
Do not worry about sending auxilia to do a legionaires job.
Do not worry about raids in areas of no consequence to greece or us.
The consuls have no intention to hang around and have a goblet of wine with these fools.
Their plan is simple - attack and desert.
Punch a blow so hard that the greeks will run to us with a ceasefire faster than a rabbit out of a foxhole.
Do not simply suggest what you think is best without being on the front line.
Our consuls are there now fighting as we speak against thousands of greeks.
They do not ask for more legions.
They do not ask for reinforcements.
They are content with what they have because they have a sound plan.
SO FOR JUPITERS SAKE, LETS COME TO A CONCLUSION.

Stop with the accusations of opulence! We do this for the people! Would you deny the voice of the people? Make a better plan! The consuls have no intention to hang around and have a goblet of wine with these fools.
"That IS their plan Senator... what part of it says that it isnt?"
Caeso Decimus Crassus (32)
Yes I would, Pontif, because apparantly you fail to see their importance. You are sending those poor legionaries to their deaths if you order them to take Illyria. You fail to see the subtlety of our consuls plan. I will try to explain once more what our plan is:
I - The northern legions feign an attack on the front, thereby luring the Greek armies north.
II - A strike force of a few legions lands in the Peloponesse which is now even less defended than before.
III - The Greeks must now choose, march south and attack the Romans in Greece, leaving their northern flank open to Roman attack, or stay in the north fighting the northern legions, but leaving Greece itself under attack.
Do you see now that it is the Greeks, not us who suffer. And I assure you that this operation will cost less than an unsupported march south through Illyria, as you propose. You may throw me off of the Tarpeian Rock if it isn't true!
the part where you said going to all these provinces. We just need to attack 1 settlement, burn it to the ground, then leave
Also your plan wont work because the Greeks have enough manpower to destroy us in both parts. Get it?
"Manpower means nothing to tactics... they can only send a certain amount of men throught the Delphi countryside, not to mention that reinforcements in the north are easy to come by... Attacking Illyria, will bring the entire Greek military to that one point... do you not see how devastating this will be?"
Caeso Decimus Crassus (32)
But are we sure you have the tactics? The disaster of the 1st should prove not! I think we need an expierienced leader like Servius Labeiunius to run this! He has proved himself
No, like I said before, the Greeks have a large empire and need their armies to be stationed around it. However, sacking their capital will bring those armies straight at Rome, and suddenly we will be dealing with far more enemies."Manpower means nothing to tactics... they can only send a certain amount of men throught the Delphi countryside, not to mention that reinforcements in the north are easy to come by... Attacking Illyria, will bring the entire Greek military to that one point... do you not see how devastating this will be?"
Besides the fact that Spartans would never surrender to the nation that takes their ancient home.
The greeks have numerous cities.
One will make no difference.
And have you not been listening Quintus Julius.
Pay attention.
There plan for the one hundredth time is to not strike at one town but four or five at the same time... lay waste and leave.
Before the greeks even know what has happened we are already in Italy retraining and reffiting the legions.
Servius Labienus 'the younger' (32)
Senator of Rome
Their towns are not occupied with armies.
Only small forces.
Two legions divided into cohorts Quintus.
Two legions divided into cohorts.
Its not that hard to understand.

"Sir when our plan is successful they will not come directly to Italy, they will have the Free people to worry about, they will have reconquering their cities to worry about, not to mention the fact that they would no longer be able to recruit elite troops. They are surrounded by gaul and bosphorus who will surely take advantage of them in their weakened state."
