Well I agree with Tiberius, we should trust our Consuls. They are great leaders and won't lead us into an ambush!

I would never imply such a thing Lucius.
But to sit here and chatter away while greek armies mass in the west will lead us down a path of destruction.
Our consuls know how to fight and fight is what they must do.
Servius Labienus 'the younger' (32)

Then let us see a division on whether we will give our consuls imperium to attack Greece until a favorable peace is signed or until this term is over, whichever comes first.
I think it has been too long since you led a legion Lucius.
Your grey hairs cover you eyes.
You have to see reason.
Our consuls are facing danger the long we sit here and waste valuable time.
Let us come to a decision.
What course of action would you see that excludes Illyria for the moment.

"Senators,
I have heard reports of... arguement and debate amongst the Senate. Allow me to explain the plan... It has three points,
1) We start an incursion in the north... with one legion. Easily reinforced if necessary. The goal here is simple: Conquer, destroy, leave. The sole purpose of this incursion is to draw the Greeks to the north. They will hopefully think we have decided to base our main theatre of operations there.
2) A second legion... depending on the situation will do one of 2 things. Either work its way down the coast of Greece, OR if we deem the coast to be too dangerous, with too many Greek armies, it will take off by boat to the Greek mainland. And join with another legion there.
3) The third legion will make its way down to Italy's boot, with 2 onager groups in addition to its normal composition. It will be launched by boat to Greece mainland. Its job is to conquer as many cities as possible and raze them to the ground. The goal here is mainly to destroy key military buildings and to sack their treasury. Cripple their war machine...
Any other legion that joins the campaing will act as reinforcements for one of these three avenues.
The goals of the campaign are simple. Divide and Conquer. Destroy the Greeks ability to make war. Overthrow the tyrant Achmidius V. Retrieve our Eagle standard wherever it may be. Give back Greece to the free people of Greece and their Senate. The Greek people will be spared on this campaign... no pillaging, no slaughter, and no looting. Only those that take up arms against us will be dealt with.
I have heard that the majority of opposition comes from Tribune Lucius Aurelius Lepidus. I have simply this to say: you are a coward! A true coward. You dare to dictate what our strategy is after being absent all this time? You haven't lead an army in years! You haven't even visited us at the front! You don't see the eagerness of our legions to fight! To finally do what they are paid to do! What they dream of doing! We were voted into this office, by the people of Rome. Rome wants this! You are supposed to represent the people of Rome! Perhaps it would behoove you to spend time with them. Listen and learn. This war will go forward... it is what the people wish.. it is what the majority senate wishes... it what our legions wish! So stop this debate! Our actions were decided the day the Hellenic League took arms againt us!"
Caeso Decimus Crassus (32)
And even you, Lucius, must agree that Illyria is swarming with Greek armies going to and coming from the battlefield in northern Italia. Would you willingly send Roman sons to that wasps nest?!
Why don't we just leave it to the Consuls as they will do whats best for Rome!

The words of the consul are there for all to read.
I will only say this.
We must retrieve our eagle.
A point easily forgotten in this lengthy debate.

The ground of Illyria is better than our own soil, where those greeks show our people non respect, plundering and destroy all in there way. So think again Falco, is it better if our people suffer from a war that those greeks started than there own people (the people that let those Spartans grow strong), I think not.

Pure slander. Not exactly sure from whom...I have heard that the majority of opposition comes from Tribune Lucius Aurelius Lepidus. I have simply this to say: you are a coward! A true coward. Greece would just as soon become ten times worse. The fact is that there will be battles and death, but it is up to the leaders of this nation to make sure that the death is as limited as possible. And even you, Lucius, must agree that Illyria is swarming with Greek armies going to and coming from the battlefield in northern Italia. Would you willingly send Roman sons to that wasps nest?!
And a long fight all the way to our goals instead of a short boat ride that would bring us directly to that same goal would be better why, exactly, Lucius?
And the leaders have devised a plan to limit casualties.
Is this not what you want?
Lives to be spared?
For us to be victorious?
For Rome to have back her eagle?

My plan does not include an invasion of Greece. And a fight all the way to our goals instead of a short boat ride that would bring us directly to that same goal would be better why, exactly, Lucius?
Greece will become a quagmire. This plan is foolhardy. I have outlined my reasoning endlessly. And the leaders have devised a plan to limit casualties.
Is this not what you want?
Lives to be spared?
For us to be victorious?
For Rome to have back her eagle?
ooc: Seriously Grandis was that letter supposed to be from your character?
Tell me Lucius, if it was your brother who died.
The eagle he had in his tent the morning the greeks laid assualt to the camp that was lost.
Would you not go to the ends of the earth for that eagle?
No true roman can say no to that.

ooc: yeah dude it was... hes angry.. he lost a brother and you wont let him fight his war... sorry if it came across as anything but.

ooc: remember anything mean said is NOT meant to hurt!! lol

This debate has gone on far to long! Its time for war! Let the soldiers of Rome march on to victory!
