    Gastraphetes are not historical for the timeframe. They were used at an earlier date, and according to the sources proved highly effective, but they were superseded by crew served artillery. I included them in XGM because they were interesting, and a plausible (but entirely speculative) Greek response to horse archers.

    Awesome job keep up the good work. But will you guys have both castles and cities or go back to just cities? Because While it makes perfect sense and I love defending 3 layered castles as much as the next guy I personally don't like then and it wouldn't make any sense historically as the only large castle I can think of is the one during the rebelion of the jews after jerusalem was taken. It was on this huge platau and the romans ended up building a huge ramp made of stones and about a hundred foot tall seige tower.

    There were plenty of fortress and castles in ancient times (a big use was made in ancient orient) but I think there were none with tree or too level of walls. It was, most of times, very huge and very compact buildings, as could be the "stone fort" in the Total War Kingdoms extention (excluding architectural, of course)

    The point is there were citadels too, up on a cliff or on a mountain, very hard to take.

    But talking about "castles" in MIITW is difficult because the MIITW team just decided a "castle" as it is in the game... The EB team could use the "two sort" of cities to do almost what they want. (colony ?)

    Possibly using castles as military settlements? Such as the successors' katoikia?

    To bad there will be no city specific units any more , they really added something, though with all those new factions it could be expected.

    I thought I read it somewhere here or at the org that city/rhegion specific units wouldn't be in, or it could be City specific Hoplite units:hmmm:.

    Well there won't be city specific hoplite units because there is a limit of the number of units we have to use and there are a lot of factions. There will be region specific units (such as Kretan Archers, Syrian Archers, Massalian Hoplites). But to have Athenian Hoplites and Korinthian Hoplites would be an abuse of limited space.

    i recently found some 3d modelling hardware and i was about to ask if its good to modeling M2TW units .
