    when i added PSF to my Stainless Steel mini mod I found that they help prevent faction that would normally eliminate one another, to fight a slower war which ended in a cease-fire. Norway and Denmark, who if go to war don't stop unitl one is destroyed fought a 20 year war along there boarder, building 6 stone forts in total.

    Stone forts are the only way the game allows you to change the environment (appart from devistation maybe), making once vulnerable routes more secure. The HRE for example built one next to the bridge near Metz (not the tile next to the bridge but the one after that).

    I didn't realize it was possible for Permanent Stone Forts to be built. I thought they were already placed on the map, like in the British Isles campaign for the Kingdoms expansion pack. How does this work, if you don't mind explaining or pointing me to an appropriate thread?

    PSFs are Stone Forts that are permenant. You can make these buildable, but because they are permanent, this isn't always the best. Once a PSF is built they cannot be destroyed. PSFs generally refer to forts that are set up at the beginning of the game and cannot be built at any time.

    is it possible to make permanent stone fort for more 'civilised factions' and wooden ones for the 'barbarians'

    One of the important things that make EB so great is the 4 turns per year script (or even better 6, 8 or 12), which makes it possible to actually immerse with your generals and bring some realism to movement around the world. I am afraid that will not be possible with medieval 2 and the best i can hope for is 2 turns per year. I would like someone to tell me if the EB team are working on that issue, as i have yet to see a script who does that for medieval 2.

    A 4 turn per year script was literally the first piece of script written for EB2.

    Forts can have different models, and this can be set in the descr_strat at the start of the game. However all forts must be either permanent or temporary. However, battle map models are not our concern at the moment.

    When you look at the preview you can see early to late versiobs of most units. The late versions are more heavily armoured.

    My guess is that the armoured updates will be used to portait the evolution towards more and heavier armoured as time progresses.
