Elrond could also take Isildur(stupid man). Could not only do that but with the entire elven army against the numenorians...frankly, the men don't stand a chance. With lines of heavy infantry in front of their archers would definatley the end of that numenorian army at the Last alliance!

Actually, he was of the fourth generation. Fëanor, Fingolfin and Finarfin were second generation.

I agree that Elrond could take on Isildur, but Isildur is not a stupid man he was just influenced by the one ring. Great job on the elves Shredder (or who else tweaked them)

Why not? They were Men of Numenor. Nearly as powerful as Elves and more numerous. Also arrows do relatively little damage to the opponent.

Arrows do a great deal of damage, just look at the English longbowmen...

Don't forget to mention that elves are very accurate with bows.

Any elven army would kick Numenorean ass. Elves were stronger, faster, more skillful, tireless. Simply, their physicque maakes them better. Also, all elves were very "civilised" and could make superb equipment. Even the light cloaks of Lorien provided very good protection.
I am slightly obsessed with longbows

I agree with you DjAci, only though, however there are limitations when implementing this too the game. I heard Elven units were stronger and faster, but over doing this would sort of create game and unit inbalance

Elvish units will be smaller than other factions units, that's their weakness.

No, they'll be more expensive. They have the same unit sizes as Gondor.

I´m afraid Phunkracy has a point Mith

The most famous historical incursion credited to longbows ever was the battle of Agincourt (or something like that) where it was said that Henry V of England defeated a massive host of French nobles by clever use of longbowmen. However this has been dissproven by modern science as the arrows of the time could not penetrate the fine armor of said nobles. Instead it was the gritty fields and bad weather that sogged the french down into the ground and gave the longbowmen a huge advantage with their lighter armour and small clubs. They practicly raped the french yes, but not with their bows

We've been over this already, and the longbows came out on top. I can't remember who proved it, but conic arrowheads can penetrate armor.

Guess I missed that one. Well, "square" arrows were the standard of the english at the time
