    Hey there,

i have no time to continue this project.

So i loaded the source code up here!

The Password for the Source Code is: "rtwcmv1"!

    It's written in delphi 2006.
You need "Inno Setup" and "AutoIt" to make the setup and change some files.

This program is not for commercial use!

    Greets,

    ----------------------------------------

    Hi everyone,

    !!! BEGIN UPDATES !!!

    Modded Version online: (1.3.0.4)

I've Updated the app to interact with BI and Alexander. Dont know if this works, cause i dont have them. Just download the modded file and try by yourself. Good luck!

In case of an error, just email me or write a privat message.

I'll leave the previous version here until someone approved me, that the modded version works.
So you can reset it, if it doesn't work.

    !!! END UPDATES !!!

    ----------------------------------------------------------

    >> VERSION IS NOW 1.3.0.3 <<

I wrote a program which allows you to play the Rome campaign map in multiplayer.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

    How To Play:
    1. You have to install this program (its Client and Server).
    2. First: DISABLE YOUR FIREWALL! This causes the most problems in networks. Somebody in LAN or Internet starts the server by simple left click on the icon in the left corner of the server application. (Make sure your firewall doesnt block this program! For screenshots you have to enable networkdrive option in the server: this works only in LAN at the moment!)
    3. Now all players who want to play (even the PC where the server application is running) join the game with the clients by enter their nicknames, choose their factions and the IP Adress of the server application.
    4. Press "Start-Game" Button in the server application to start a new game or just load a game from the saves.
    5. The first player will be on turn.
    6. Follow and read the INSTRUCTIONS!!! The other players have to wait until their turn. Rome will start autom.

Thats all... ;-) Really simple, isnt it?

Remember one thing: DO NOT PRESS CTRL+S FOR QUICKSAVE!!!

WARNING: If you have a mod installed, which changes the faction names (like ROMA SURRECTUM), you will find the ORIGINAL faction-names (like romans_julii, romans_brutii) in the clients faction select box. Thats not an error! But: you have to choose the faction which you want to play by "try and error".

    ----------------------------------------------------------

    Here are some program features:
    - Play the campaign map in Multiplayer without transfering the data per eMail to the next client or copying anything
    - Watch the other players while they are on turn (best in LAN cause of network speed)
    - 2 languages for client: German and English
    - Just follow the instructions to play
    - Integrated chat system
    - Integrated file transfer
    - Save and load your multiplayergames

Just take a look and have fun with this version.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

If it does not work or an error occur, please let me know what the error is about!
Try to descripe the error a litte, so i can fix it up in the next version.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

When I tested this on a sandbox under Wine, diff showed it created two files in C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\, w32x86 and win40. I've taken down the file until you explain to me why your program needs to install drivers to run multiplayer RTW. Post it again without my approval and you're banned.

    Hi,

    I'm sorry about this.

this program is compiled with inno setup 4.0 to a setup file. i searched for google but i dont know where to find out anything about these two files.

They have to do with the spooler, but my pgm doesnt use a spooler or printer.

are these files created, if you INSTALL it or if you START it?

thank you, i'll try to find out what this is about...

One thing I've forgotten: Its compiled with borland delphi!

Please answer me quick, cause its a really really cool program. me and my brother have tested it and played the campaign!

    thank you

My apologies; it was a false alarm (I wasn't comparing to a fresh install). I haven't been able to find anything malicious, necessarily. Trying to install the program and run both of them alters no system files or suspicious registry keys that I can see. I can't determine whether the program actually works, since I don't have RTW installed. You have to understand that it's a little suspicious when a new member whom nobody has ever seen before signs up solely to post some download that everyone would love to have but that seems like it would be difficult or impossible to make.

I'll put the attachment back up. I've done my best to determine it's not harmful. If anyone wants to try it, do so at your own risk and report back whether it works.

Oh, sorry. Could you tell me why it needs the username and password, please? It seems pretty suspicious. What does it do that requires that?

You can test this, if you start the server and client --> connect the client to 127.0.0.1 and the network drive should be connected. otherwise you'll get an error.

    Thanks for trust in me...!

I'll update the file from time to time and write changes in a log - which i add to the first post.

Hope you enjoy playing RTW MultiplayerCampaign! (tested and plays best in LAN or over hamachii)

if you want to be shure nothing goes out your PC just release the cable connection an test it. it does NOT contain a virus or anything else. its not harmful!!

I guess you all waited for such a program, so i wrote it. (took 5 days to do that!!!)

if you have any idea how to make this program better please let me know, i try to do this in the next version!

It was tested with ROME - Total War 1.5 Mod: Roma Surrectum, but should work with any other, cause the only files which it modifies are: \Data\export_descr_advice.txt and \Data\text\export_advice.txt

the client does a backup, which is restored if you exit the client.

greetings and have fun with this one!!
    arma

P.S.: dont forget to post, what i could do better in the next version! thank you!

    Hi,

I have updated the RomeMultiCampaign Client and Server!

    Fix Log:

    Client:
    - Enable the script, if you click on anything in the game and then click on advisor --> Show-Me-How-Button
    - Error while transferring screenshots to other clients
    - Language-File updated

    Server:
    - You could now watch every saved game on the server, even if not all factions needed to load are online

    Greetings,
    ARMA

P.S.: @Simetrical: I tried to edit the above thread, but you have edited it last, so i have no rights to update the file... please put this file at the top of the tread! Thank you!

OK, I've done it. Its not necessary any more! xARMAx

It would be good if you could give step by step instrutions for how to actually play a multiplayer campaign using this. I may be able to figure it out, but it would be very confusing for many people.

Do the players take their turns simultaneously? Meaning can the players move their armies, and manage their cities as the same time as eachother?

    Hi,

no, thats impossible! i can not make a new rome game ;-)

it goes round by round, player by player, but the other players can watch the current player! thats a pretty cool function i think, so it wont be boring to wait until your turn... (screenshots work best on LAN at this time)

but its good as it is... find out by yourself!

    Hi,

I've updated the client + server files and added to fix log.

If anyone could test this pgm under windows vista and reply would be great!

To test you can start the client 2 times on one pc and connect.

But: the end turn function wont probably work correct, cause you use the same "quicksave.sav" two times. so you can only simulate 1 round.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

I updated the file to Version 1.0!

Networkdrive connect is NOT necessary any more, but usefull for screenshots.

You DO NOT have to enter your windows USERNAME and PASS for playing!

If anything doesnt work: Please tell me, so i can fix it up!

What you can actually play the battles against another human? wowowow, this is cool. Also does this work for Med2 aswell or just RTW?

    Hi,

at this time, it works only for RTW, but in further releases it will also work for MTW...

You play the battles between human players against the AI. This is the only thing i couldnt manage in rome (or does anyone know a command line option for quick battle on specified battlemap?)

Its up to you if you auto resolve the battles or fight against the AI.
That is fair, because the other players will also fight against the AI, so its balanced.

    Greets,
    ARMA

P.S.: I update the file from time to time, if me and my brother have tested the source!
