No, I am in utmost favor with them till the end of my life. They are Romans, aren't they? And they are the one who prevented total barbarianization of Europe in the dark ages....
I was/am wondering how they got 90% of the map.
Edit: Whoa! you nearly had the Western Romans.![]()
By the way, how do Spanish fight? I have not fought a single battle against them.
From my knowledge, they use guns excessively and have many mounted missiles, common for the Iberians.
No idea about Portugal, never played them.
Leon and Castille has plenty of heavy units, yeah, a good variety of heavy calvary without lacking to much in the tohers.
Aragon is less amor heavy, but has Basque Archers (mercenaries in custom battles) which are better that profesional ones and the Almughavars, an elite light infantry unit.
Both have the problem of lacking really good spears. Almughavars had a bonus vs calvary in vanilla but know they haven't.

Can the Papal States not be destroyed? I'm positive I've taken all of their settlements, but their armies still roam the lands I've taken from them. This hasn't happened with previous factions I've eliminated.
Poland is their vassal, does that have anything to do with it?
Papal States can't really be "eliminated". They are always electing a new Pope, which gives them more soldiers, so they never die. Unless you eliminate all the priests/cardinals, it will never die. Even then it doesn't die, just remains dormant. So NO, the Papal States cannot be destroyed
So there is no way for me to take them off the board as an aggressive enemy?
Give them Rome back, set castles around Rome and try to make peace.
Scribo ergo sum.
My stories:
You don't need to give them Rome itself back - any settlement (the poorest, furthest away, or an island like the baleares) will do.

I don't think there's any hope for peace now considering Christendom has just launched another Crusade on Jerusalem.![]()
My Late Era Byzantine Empire campaign on VH/VH and 2 tpy. The Turks and Fatmids are destroyed and I'm taking the Crusader State's last castle next turn. It has been a pretty enjoyable campaign, but now that I actually have a pretty large empire I'm not sure if I want to continue. If I do though do you guys think I should go and conquer the rest of the east or be defensive and tech up? I could go west and actually retake Greece, but that would mean losing my allies Hungary and Poland who have been allies since the start of the campaign. (I could of taken Constantinople about 20 turns ago, but i decided to save it for later)

Oops forgot to put that in a spoiler tag, if mod or whatever sees this edit my last post please. Thanks for your time.
Take Constantinople! Your empire looks shamefur without it!!
Yea, it really doesn't feel like the 'Byzantine' Empire when you don't actually have Byzantium/Constantinople.
Otherwise good empire!
Nice empire, Whujios. I started a late era Byzantine campaign today with the release of Caudillo's new Komnenian roster, and am similarly focusing on an eastern empire (although I took Constantinople and Adrianople). I'll post progress later.
Not really Byzantine, but Antioch Empire.
