☩ THE KINGDOM OF ENGLAND ☩

    & The Anglo Expanse

    THE RAVEN THAT FEEDS
    ENGLAND, 1755
The Papal States have claimed several new territories in the German area. They've put Hungary down a bit, softening the edge pointed at world domination. Long has Hungary been the dominant force and unarguably the most terrifying. Factions that once held their own independence are now under the Hungarian banner. With all this power, one may think.. why not take more? The shadow cast from Hungary grows deeper following it's arrogance.

With few free kingdoms remaining, and dwindling, the power of the world is held in the air, up for grabs. England, under the reign of King Hubert son of Fulk have abandoned their ties from the Grand Hungarian Empire and remained close to the Papacy. King Fulk left England to his son, and left his son with the fate of England. The years that passed during the Papal State's minimal war with Hungary left England in wait.

    WAR OF THE EXPANSE
    ENGLAND, 1759
"War! War on England! Hungary has strucken all across the Anglo Expanse! God himself knew of this growing menace, that lay claim to our lands! Mustn't we grow ill, we shall raise the lions, raise the cross, for we are English. Do not look down upon the world. Look down upon the insolent Hungarian bastards! Have faith in I, have faith in your brothers, have faith in England for she is ripe! We are ripe with bravery. Blood is in the very sod! But let it be the blood of English heroes and Hungarian devils! Remember our past. Remember our past triumphs!King Baldwin did not lead us to glory against the Moors for riches. For England and Christendom! Norway fell to our revenge, the revenge of our swords that met more than once! And Christ behold, the Godwins and the Holy Crown. Forever among us. And the days to come, we fight for England, and her endurance. Hear me now! Hold your heads to the heavens and your swords to the blood seething Hungarian heart!" -King Hubert, at the Rally of London Tower, speaking to nobles concerning the news of war.

The Hungarian Emperor signals the attack on England, an attack that struck every reach of the Anglo Expanse. Iberia. France. Poland. All slammed by the powerful and advanced armies of the Grand Hungarian Empire. Cries of terror and bellows of pride echo throughout the land. The half century planned defense hustles into defensive positions.

Even after many defeats and victories, The Grand Hungarian Empire shows no slack. Army after army attacks every line. The forces of England hold strong, but will no doubt wither away, god forbid. From here on out, it's a massacre to keep the Hungarians from taking France and reaching the Norman coasts. The barons and governors of the Northern Union have much doubt their lands will fall, and it's King Fulk to blame. The weakest point in the Anglo Expanse already shakes, ready to tumble. Gavington and Trevelyan have already fallen, and soon to follow Stratsford and Thorn. Iberia is a game, there is little English control and it's fate is uncertain. France remains the rock. The choke points created from the Papal State's expansion has proven useful. Bordeaux and surrounding forts are sure to hold...

    But for how long?

I will allow myself to post mine as well - first one, that after so many played campaings may be somewhat interesting.

    Kingdom of France, INTRODUCTION
France has truly grown to become mightest of european mights. During many yeras of fights King finally managed to conquer entire British Isles and in the same time, his most enthrusted man, Alain la Cleve succeeded to conquer Holy Land on a crusade.
Once old king died and Alain la Cleve was entintled protector of the throne, he decided to use entire riches France treasure has collected during to century of succesfull campaings and years of peaceful trade to buy all possible lands in Italy from Sycilian Kingdom. They were eager to get rid of them, as most of these lands were in civil war ( inspired by france, as some suspected ) and of great need of money to fight of the Moors. Once Alain and his forces landed on Italy they conquered every rebelious city state and ensured all of Italy's nobles declare loyality to french throne.
And so French king is entitled now as King of all France, Britania and Italy, prince of lower Inflants and west Iberia, protector of the Holy Land and City of Jerusalem.
French long time ally, Holy Roman Empire has been recently recognied by Pope to the church. These two kingdoms have mutual alliance agreement, which states that Romans may have claim to any land east of their current lands, while French may lay their hands on anyone west. Their relations are perfect by now, althought HRE didn't especially liked what France did with Italy, but nobody was talking about south, right?
Kingdom is potentially threatened only by Moors and Fatimids on the south, there are no enemies in europe so far.

Kingdom of France, Year 1273 AD
Regent Alain la Cleve (Age 88) resides in Holy City of Rome putting great effort to restore it's once unmatched glory, planning to move Kingdom's capital there in future. His son, entitled as prince is managing Holy Land and residing in city of Damascus.
Pope has called crusade against Moors Caliphate, as they besieged last Leonese castle. France was first to join as they were at the first line in Moors future invasion plans and those two were conflicted over two decaded with eachother.

"My dear Ebelyn, my dear. Know that you are still in my heart just as it beats and even until it stops. The fighting grows ill. Fort Eavesham has been attacked twice in the past month. We successfully repelled them, but I fear that, I fear we will become over run. Godbless me that I will be lucky enough to escape to Bordeaux. The Empires' armies encroach upon the Expanse. The war will be long. I'm sorry. I wish not to frighten you. I hope the farm is alright, and I pray your father could pay the taxes. How I wish to return to York. My home. I must go. I shall see you again. Whether in plain sight or in Heaven."

Kingdom of France, Year 1283 AD, January 3
Kingdom's regent Alain la Cleve has passed to God's Kingdom, leaving the throne to his son, who has been called King, as first of this new royal dynasty.
His first task and opportunity to prove himself worthy of the crown he has been given - finishing war against the Moors and rescuing befriended Kingdom of Leon.

Kingdom of France, Year 1286 AD
    - "Betrayal! We have been betrayed my lord!" - screamed messenger from the front to King Clement, running into throne chamber in Paris - "Kingdom of Leon has attacked one of our's supply escorts, and later on striked upon fourth reinforcement army, which was aiming to assist siege in Leon !"
King had no coice, but to send recently assembled army from Toulouse to deal with these selfish bastards. Kingdom of Leon was so long a friend of France, and it recieved several houndred of thousands florins help, but they couldn't deal with possibility of loosing their ambitions to rule Iberia...

Kingdom of France, Year 1293 AD, May 24
10 years since the war begun has passed... Ten horrible years of murders and slaughter over muslim population, but yet so glorious. Despite sins and crimes that french soldiers have commited against heaven's law, every one of them is most proud of themselfs in this glorious day. This day is to be remembered for long, as this is the day when Iberia is free of infidels and christian laws are restored under French King!
Since now, this day is called Infidel day in Iberia. Everyone go to church at the morning and pray for souls of brave knights that restored God's law upon this land, but also for infamous infidels. Later people (especially youthies) celebrate the day, dressing in costumes made from offshoots and leaves, pretending to be infidels. Each year, tourney is being held in Toledo to celebrate this day. Winner is awarded with 5000 florins and title of Infidel's Nightmare for a year.

Kingdom of France, Year 1303 AD
After 20 years bloody war between Moorish Caliph and French King is over, when royal blue banner with golden lilies situated over highest tower in fortress of Algiers. In these twenty years, France has proven more than ready for this war. Special training system and best quality equipment made for soldiers nad knights has paid of double.
But pope (residing now in Gaza, whih sureley had impact on his decision) has decided that christandom is not done with islam yet. And so he called crusade upon Cairo, in which most realms has participated, includion France, encouraged by it's recent victory over Moors Caliphate, with armies ready and perfect positions to strike from 2 sides over last serious islam threat in the known world...

Kingdom of France, Year 1309 AD
In six years crusaders has conquered all north africa, from Tunis to Benghazi and most of Egipt. Also two armies has been sent to conquer Mecca and Medina, with successful result, leaving Fatimids with Alexandria, Rhodes and Cyprus. But their armies were still high in numbers, so just after capture of Cairo in God's name, peace treaty has been signed by both sides.

    C:\Games\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\SS6.3\data\text

go there (or your equivalent install path) open the file called expanded.txt and find the country you want to rename.

(real name in brackets) change to whatever you want outside the brackets and save the file.

delete the expanded.txt.strings file (should be right below it)

start up the campaign again and it should have the new name.

    Icon1 The Habsburg Empire

The year of our Lord 1531 in the Habsburg Dominion under the reign of Emperor Berenguel Conqueror of Rome. He is also King of Portugal, King of Spain and King of Morocco by blood descent.

My empire has come from humble origins to be the top European power broker. I took control of Iberia early on and held the Moors back. Eventually I killed them and took N Africa and the Med. Isles. I also ensured that I incorporated the Portuguese, Aragonese, and Moorish royal Bloodline to provide me with legitimacy before I destroyed them. Then I invaded Italy and southern Germany.

The HRE was excommunicated and I brought them to their knees. I gave them back some of their provinces for them to become my protectorate. I do maintain some forts near HRE's main cities to keep them in line.

I recently had killed the last pope because he didn't know his place. I have a majority in the College of Cardinals so I can ensure a Spanish pope. The papacy currently is paying me 3000 florins for 100 turns. I did that to slow their troop recruitment.

I am allied with Hungary, the Papal States, and Denmark. Genoa is my de facto ally because I protect them from the French and they are allied with Hungary and the Papal States.

England had laid siege to my Low Countries but I gave them some florins for a ceasefire, but I need to find a permanent solution.

I have the Theologians Guild Headquarters in Leon and am using Egypt as a training ground for my bishops and cardinals as a substitute for the crusades. I have had frequent wars with the Ottomans but currently their is a ceasefire. I had blockaded every one of their sea ports and they still were making money through land trade so now I need a new strategy. I did call a crusade around 1430 to slow the Ottoman expansion in the Balkans. I did take Constantinople but it was a temporary solution and not really worth it. I routinely give Hungary and the Mamluks money to help them out.

I was thinking my next move would be to free the HRE from their vassalage and to go on a sea raid of the Ottoman coast, sacking coastal cities. What does everyone think I should do next?

Pretty nice campaign, though there are a few things I would do:
    1. Kill of the Germans, they are just in the way and their lands are valuable.
    2. After that invade France from all sides, once that is done, look to England and do the wise thing; invade.
    3. Once that is done you are basically the strongest nation in the world, so I would take on the Turks. This would be an epic war, you could start by taking their African settlements, then go through Egypt and take the Holy land. Or go the other way and invade through Hungary onwards to Istanbul.

    Epic campaign anyway, +rep.

    @Iceclaw What's up man, post something !
@Judeman266 Hmm... Really nice balance of power in there after so many years... so many factions are still in their natural borders still (france, england, scotland and so on). Tell me what AI do you use, and do you play with "slow conquest" mindset or some super hard difficulty level?
Plus, I really like the way you conquer random lands overseas, as it would happen in reality. Rep for you.

About next move, it really depends on what you're up to. If you want a slow conquest aka reality gameplay, then go for some turkish land.
Otherwise if you go for total war and profitwise gameplay, then I'd advice buying lands in southern france (especially Toulouse and Bordeaux), as they will be your main strength in future, plus you'll make land connection from Iberia to Italy. Next I'd invade HRE from 2 sides, and after that invasion on either france or Britania would seem appropriate move.

And if you are playing at least at vh/vh, then go slowly and choose your enemies wisely, because even now you may still be gangba*ged by france/england/hre/?.

    Clash of the Titans
" So the time has come... few years of brief peace I have earned for my people, and again war is what I must participate in for sake of my subjects. Hah! Great victor they call me, and for bringing glory to nation I am praised. But none of these sycophants see real reason for any of these wars and conquers I've made... one thinks of them as desire for glory over my name, some see it as a lust for power and land, and others even as my bribe for God! - last one is funny indeed, as if God would ever reward one for pain and sufferings of thousands.... None of them know, that only reasons in my mind ever was peaceful life without worries for every man under my rule. Because of wars I made they see just opposite, as someone who enjoy massacres and fights, but they ignore fact that thanks to this they may live in peace at their homes, far away from any foreign army deep in this empire I've built.
God only knows peace is all I ever wanted, and now after Battle of Sands (also known as Battle of Alexandria 1336 AD, July 1-3 ) I thought I can ensure long peace, but our jeleous neightbours crave our lands and riches. For long they have gained in cost of thers, including Poland, Hungary, Russia, Mongols and others, but now the time has come, and we shall show them that a wolf may not kill a tiger!"

Qba meant to ask you what did you click on in the setup menu.

I use Savage AI, VH/VH, BGR IV, Longer Assimilation, and Permanent Watchtowers, One turn per year with RR on. My economy is very stable but I use my money as a foreign policy tool strengthening the Hungary, Poland, and the Mamluks.

I like your empire because you have a showdown between West v East. But you should have real recruitment on so that it is harder for you to get elite units, because in the year 1285 you had lancers while Leon still had Feudal Knights. It's almost impossible for you to lose because your troops aren't even supposed to be around for another 150 years/turns.

☩ THE KINGDOM OF ENGLAND ☩

    & The Anglo Expanse

    BEHOLD THE RESISTANCE
    ENGLAND, 1765
The past five years have been ruthlessly bloody. The bloodiest war for England since the Second Norwegian War. Cities and castles have faced endless and harsh battles. Garrisons of small mercenaries from complete royal English armies are slammed with the Hungarian horde.

Without the presence of a professional English army in Iberia (besides stationary Zaragoza), the battle for control will indeed be grueling. General Reynold Becket is head of the Iberian movement, and has succeeded in taking Seville, only to receive news that the siege of Toledo has failed, due to an ambush from another Hungarian army. Burgos also fell in 1762. The small veteran armies tied together across Iberia are known as "The Resistance" which consists of Englishmen, accompanied by Spanish and Moorish descendants who now take up arms as mercenaries for The Resistance. General Reynold now awaits a mercenary army from Sicily, which will take Valencia and join Reynold in the second assault on Toledo, as the last one failed.

To the north at the base of the Pyrenees, Zaragoza and Pampolna fall under attack. Both are strongly defended, but if they fall, it will mark the end of The Resistance. These two areas are key in control over Iberia, for they would add much more territory to Hungary's presence here. The Resistance only hopes the allies from Palermo arrive in time to take Valencia and Toledo.

Meanwhile, news has spread that there has been minimal, but some success in France. Cologne has been ransacked by a brave general who left Antwerp to claim a victory, now Hungary only has one settlement in norther France, the fortress of Metz. General Arthur was able to retake Marseilles, reclaiming the city that Hungary slaughtered. The Northern Union Jarls are enlisting all and every able bodied man to ship to Poland-Lithuania, in response to the fall of Stratsford, the old castle that served as the base of operations during the Second Norwegian War.

God's speed to The Resistance, The Royal Armies in France, and the Northern Union.
