Wales should be an obvious choice.
Kingdom of Georgia
Kingdom of Armenia
Kingdom of Cyprus-Late
Zangid Empire-Early
Kingdom of Burgundy
Kingdom of Sweden
Kingdom of Serbia
Bulgarian Empire
Abbasids caliphate
Not on the list (Do name the faction you would love to see.)
Hah, SS 6.0 is just released and we're already making demands for SS 7.0. I'm perfectly satisfied with the current iteration. If you change the factions for SS 7.0, people will just be demanding that they be replaced in SS 8.0.
With 6.0 it actually amazes me how people wouldn't choose the Abbasids.
1. WE NEED MORE MUSLIM FACTIONS, It's not hate against europe its just we already have enough europe.
2. A historical empire or a duchy/county...hmm not a hard choice for me
3. It makes it more challenging for Kharwezmian players (after a while the sea of rebels gets boring).
4. Sorry to say but factions like Swiss,Sweden,Burgundy,Serbia and Wales are just bad for game play. It's not that they aren't important but that they are unnecessary. If you look at the map right now you can see how empty the middle east is compared to Europe; yet people still want to clutter it more. Abbasids are good for game play, balancing, and adding more variety to the game.

I'm with the Abbassids, but I think that it would be better to call it Seljuk Sultanate, and the western Seljuk Sultanate being called Sultanate of Rum/ Sultanate of Iconium.
The Abbassids were just puppets under turkish control. And the Turkish Seljuk Sultan of Bagdad theoricly ruled over all other turkish domains, but the other Seljuk kingdoms (Aleppo, Mosul, Damascus, Danishmend, Iconium, etc) were in fact independent from Bagdad's rule.
It would be great to see the Middle East polithical situation well shown in SS. I don't know why CA did not include that difference between the Greater Seljuks and the Lesser Seljuks in the Crusades expansions.
The Abbasids would be very much welcomed because that region of the map is quite empty and needs a filler empire. However, the other place we desperately need /something/ is between Hungary and the Byzantines, and unfortunately those factions(Bulgaria and Serbia) are not getting votes. Whether or not you guys want one of those two, I think they're much more likely than something like Georgia simply because there is a need for something in the area.

Tell you what I'd like to do is change a lot of the factions around. Combine Portugal, Leon-Castile, and Aragon into 1 faction (Spanish States, or something), free up ireland and scotland, combine the orders with KoJ as Crusader States, then reorganize the map to be more equal... the east has /huge/ blocky regions(Don/Sarkel is hideous), it needs to be smoothed out, lots of lesser towns and castles included, get rid of useless places like Cork and Galway, ireland can be an island of 1 region like Cagliari or Cyprus. Scotland doesn't need 3 regions, there's a lot of places in the west that could be trimmed.
But, all this is just what a 'mod' is called and I can't do that. I would love to use tommyknocker's beautiful map with a different arrangement of regions and factions, but c'est la vie. SS is great.
For SS, a balkan faction seems right.

Western Europe is fine the way it is. The factions keep each other in check pretty well over there. The problem is in the Balkans and the Middle East. I dont care what factions are included over there but there definately needs to be more balance in those 2 areas of the strategy map.
The map is balanced good enough for me. theres enough going on in eastern europe.
There you got Poland, Hungary, Teutonic Order, Novgorod, Kiev and the Byzantines.
Lets also not forget that there arent much good defensive positions there either to keep weaker factions alive.
The british isles are a great barrier, and Norway and Denmark are at a good spot as well. They all have a good chance of survival, and France and the HRE too because they are a bit bigger even while they are surrounded.

Serbia or Bulgaria, which ever has the more varied and interesting (IE at least look very different from their neighbours) units). Abbasids or Georgia would be nice too.
I would love to see the Cathars represented somehow, esp their religion (as hinduism has priests/temples in Broken Crescent) : )
"In January 1208 the papal legate, Pierre de Castelnau was sent to meet the ruler of the area, Count Raymond VI of Toulouse. Known for excommunicating noblemen who protected the Cathars, Castelnau excommunicated Raymond as an abettor of heresy. He was immediately murdered near Saint Gilles Abbey on his way back to Rome by a knight in the service of Count Raymond. As soon as he heard of the murder, the Pope ordered the legates to preach a crusade against the Cathars. Having failed in his effort to peacefully demonstrate the errors of Catharism, the Pope then called a formal crusade, appointing a series of leaders to head the assault. There followed 20 years of war against the Cathars and their allies in the Languedoc: the Albigensian Crusade.
This war pitted the nobles of the north of France against those of the south. The widespread northern enthusiasm for the Crusade was partially inspired by a papal decree permitting the confiscation of lands owned by Cathars and their supporters. As the Languedoc was teeming with Cathars and Cathar sympathisers, this made the region a target for French noblemen looking to acquire new fiefs. The barons of the north headed south to do battle." --wikipedia article on the Albigensian Crusade

If a faction should be added in france it would have to be Burgundy though.
I voted for Bulgarian Empire (my historical knowledge and gameplay doesnt allow me to think otherwise) though new faction in the East would be good as well.
I am curious whether isnt possible to change the name of faction after annexing a "close neigbour/s" (case for Great Britain, Russia, Spain, Ottoman Empire, Austro-Hungaria, Polish-Lithuania commonwealth, perhaps Northern coaliton for Norway, Sweden whatever)? It would be nice to see how a city state for example becomes an empire or a nation at least. If there was some similar question or it doesnt belong here accept my apologies pls. It makes me really curious about it bcs of my experience from Europa Universalis III where it was this feature which I liked so much.
