I believe an amphibious invasion is an idea, however, scouts must be sent across the Adriatic, to make sure that these cities are indeed weaker than the northern ones. Also, to make such an invasion, we will need to build quite a large invasion force, as it is very likely that the Greeks, seeing their homeland being conquered, will withdraw south to protect that area. The best thing would be to be able to strike at them both in the north and the south, therefore splitting their forces, however, I don't think we yet have the manpower to do so.

I think the best would be to attack Illyria and Pannonia, and then sandwich the Greek armies on our borders. They would be without hope of retreat and surrounded.

It offers the rich mines that would finance such a campaign and possibly add a new province Illyricum to the Republic. But most importantly, it creates a large gap between Italy and the Hellenic league. A commodity that cannot be measured in talents or Mnai!

Also, on behalf of my father, he offers as many men from Sicily as the republic desires, and will willingly spend it from his own budget.

OOC: come look at the report in my thread, or the game(bear in mind that things have changed slightly from the pics) http://files.filefront.com/YATSRPGtm.../fileinfo.html.

"I have a plan in the making, however it requires a bit more information than we have, a specific plan to attack greece is not what we need right now, what I need is a motion proposed, "Do We Instigate War With Greece?" If the motion passes, then allow me to present my plan for the invasion of Greece. I have seen this coming and I believe it well thought out, but first I must see that the majority wants war, that the majority wants to break our alliance."

We should be ready for war.
But we should also not invite it willingly.
Not until my father is settled in the north.
That way we can be sure that no gauls will come through the padus onto italian soil.

After placing his vote on the decision to instigate war with the Koinon Hellenon, Marcus takes a deep breath, stands, and gives his advice on how this war should start.

"I have placed my vote in the Campus Martius, and, as I have said last term, we must prepare for war with the Hellenes! Do I think that we should levy a mighty host of legions and parade them through the Peloponnese? No, of course not, not at this stage anyway.

From Senator Falco's reports, it would seem that Sparta has exercised its tyrannical influence over the other Greek poleis. Am I the only one who realizes how much this helps our cause? The Hellenes are known world-wide for their hatred of powerful kings and rulers, or as we call them, tyrants. In this case, Sparta has become the lord of Hellas, and we are not the only ones who are opposed to such a thing.

We must destroy the league, or empire, from the inside. Sparta has stripped the autonomy and independence from the great city-states, such as Athens and Corinth. The descendants of Alexandros in Macedonia are also being occupied by the Spartan beasts! The Illyrians, the Dacians, Celts, Germans: all people who would eagerly overthrow their masters if they only had assistance. We must be the ones to provide such assistance. Our agents must cause rebellion and dissent in the Spartan lands, our assasins must slit the throats of Spartan nobles, and our diplomats must bribe those loyal to Sparta, so that the proud city-state will be crippled by the time our consular armies march into the Peloponnese!

Bloodshed is something the men in these halls want to avoid, whether it be for their own popularity or their concern for the Republic. No matter what, if we want our boys to return home safely, we must go through with my plan."

We should strike at there coast to increase our own trade and in the same way reduce there, also as Publivs Valerivs Pivblicola said should our next priority be towns with mining facilities.

To cause such problems in the Greek nation, we need to train diplomats, spies and assassins.

Diplomats: Some to be sent further east to gain trade rights and other things that will boost our economy. Meanwhile, others are sent into Greece to bribe leaders and armies. Also, contact should be made to other nations bordering Greece, giving them money to attack Greece and support our cause. As an estimate, we shall need at least 3 or more diplomats in total to do all these jobs.

Spies: We need as many spies as possible to infiltrate most of the Greek settlements, hopefully more in Sparta than anywhere else. With the spies in the settlements, we can constantly get feedback on what is going on in the area, such as troop movements, recruiting etc. They can also cause unhappiness of the population against Greek rule, and their society shall crumble from within, so to speak.

Assassins: These we also need quite a few of, not because of inability, but because they can only perform one mission each every 6 months. Therefore, I believe that we should have about 5 or 6 spies, all starting off with sabotaging buildings, especially military ones, to gain experience. Once they are good enough, start killing off the family members.

We have liberated many towns and provinces.
    This will be no liberation.
    This will be decimation.
We will march into their lands and conquer them.
That is of course if they attempt to provoke us into doing so.
I am still unsure whether waking the beast is a wise decision.
Especially when the beast is hungry.

We should not make war with the Greeks, not yet at least. As much as i hate to say it , they are overwhelmingly more powerful. Until we raise more Legions and capture more provinces to support our army we don't stand a chance.

The greeks will not stand a chance against us.
We have the men and we have our consul.
If he cannot do it then I guess we have to look elsewhere.

Senator, fellow Romans I have a proposal to you all!

As many men in her wants me to take on a diplomatic misson in the far east
I´ve done som research upon these countries and found out by speaking to some foreign merchant that
a trade with the Kingdom of the Cimmerian Bosporus would bring in a large amount of money.
They are truly based on a Greek colonie, but which kingdom or empire is´t based upon those?
They were loyal to the old Greece but now when corruption and Kings which dose´t care
of democracy has irised in there ancestors land they are no more friends of them than what we are.

I propose that we should make these peoples our alies as they might help us crush dose greeks as they find themself far more worthy to those lands.
