Lvcivs proud frame stands tall amongst the senators, from the weeping men to the red faced brutes, and he shouted as if a general to the stunned army of intellect that lay before him

We must not weep for a legion! They died with honour and pride, but if we sit and weep, we give the greeks more strength. All men live and all men die. Today was for our brave Legio, but the future is paved with greek soldiery, and the swines whom offer them assistance. We need to prepare our counter attack! We must strike in their side, take the thing they prize even more then their sons, their gold, and their silver! Illyria! It lies but a few days sail away, and offers the bounty of blood and money!

Brothers, do not weep. No! Never weep! But make our foes weep! Not for loss of life, but for their complete, entire annihilation! We are strong, we will remain strong for lest we forget, WE ARE ROME!

    Lepidus speaks

Senator Publicola, patriotism is admirable but what you have just said borders on dangerously blind nationalism. This situation requires realistic outlooks, and yet you speak as if we need only reach out our hands with a paintbrush and remove the Greeks from the map and suddenly they will no longer be any threat to us.

    Lepidus addresses the entire audience.

I for one have decided to endorse the plan that requires the least loss of life with the greatest chance of ending this war, instead of foolhardy adventures into barbarian country. I have yet to decide which plan that is.

If it's a diplomatic embassy to the Spartan King, then I can assure you now that it's sure to fail.
