    Hi guys,

Well, after a long pause, I'm back to M2TW. And looking for mod, something that wouldn't be that different from vanilla, but would cover only pre-gunpowder age, or just a few specialist gunpowder units. No ubiquitous gunpowder artillery, no musketeers....also campaign a bit longer than vanilla, but not much.

    Hey,

I have a problem I noticed after spending a great deal of time with TATW, The Sundering and more recently the Wrath of the Norsemen BETA. They all have very good unit design as well as general graphics (both tactical and strategical map). But then I wanted to play historically accurate (Medieval AD1000 up) I went and downloaded Deus Lo Vult (used to play it some years ago) and Battle Balance for it. But!

The units look like crap! I had not even noticed how far the mods have come. The horses, unit faces, stratmap etc. Now I need help, are there any released mods that are as aesthetically pleasing as the ones I mentioned? I know of the upcoming (give or take five years or something) The Great Conflicts. Mod should be historical and MTW 2 (no interest in Shogun 2 or Empire either).

Try Broken Crescent (crusades with islam focus) or The Last Kingdom (vikings invasions of Britain)!

More historical then vanilla, but otherwise not much. Fantasy armors/horses, bad map, etc.

Is there a mod which takes M2TW to the Empire Total War era?

I need a mod or submod that makes bribing physically possible.
Jon had taken Donal and Benjen’s advice to heart: Sam may be fat and pathetic, but he is still a member of the watch, and one of the few black brothers who isn't a rapist or thief. (out of context, this sounds ridiculously racist)

None that i know of and i doubt such a think could be possible as the combat systems for both are different. Would hate to see ETW useing the M2TW system for its gun units.

Have you tried messing with the bribery settings in descr_campaign_db?

Apologies if it was already asked and answered but I could not find it anywhere. All I want is to remove the Mongols, Timurids and the plague from the main campaign. Please list the file names I need to edit. Thank you oh so very much.

Aren't you worried that you'll make the game too easy?

Perhaps but I am not one to look for a crazy challenge. I feel that these scripted events unbalance the flow of the game and the progression of the different factions. I suppose that's the point but it pisses me off. As a general rule, I don't like random or scripted events in strategy games.

That's quite understandable, I know zero about modding the files though. Maybe you should try posting a new thread, there are many people on this forum who could tell you how to do that.

Thanks for the reponse. I may post a new thread in the main forum if I get no answer. Have a good day!

Although I'm not a 100% sure as I'm not a scripter I think disabling the events that cause them should do the trick. Open descr_events.txt in your world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign folder and place a ; in front of every line of the mongol invasion, black death and timurid invasion events. The ; makes the game ignore the line that is behind it, you could also just delete those events but if you ever change your mind you'd either have to reinstall the game or add the lines back yourself and you might accidently delete stuff you shouldn't.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    monitor_event EventCounter EventCounterType mongols_invasion_warn
    and EventCounter > 0
    ; ADD SCOUTING INVASION
    add_events
    event counter mongols_invasion
    date 4 8
    end_add_events

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    ;-- Timurids invasion --
    monitor_event EventCounter EventCounterType timurids_invasion_warn
    and EventCounter > 0
    ; ADD SCOUTING INVASION
    add_events
    event counter timurids_invasion
    date 2 4
    end_add_events

So the invasion warn event is what causes the actual invasion event to happen for both Mongols and Timurids. However, commenting out the invasion warn event with a semicolon may not be a good idea. Because it is used in a script, simply commenting it out (which is deleting it as far as the game is concerned) may cause a crash since the game is looking for an event which does not exist. Rather than commenting it out, it may be better idea to simply to set the event date for Mongol and Timurid Invasion Warn to something very high so you never encounter them.

As for removing the plague, you can remove the scripted plagues. However, removing random plague events doesn't seem to be possible. I've tried deleting them from descr_disasters, deleting map.rwm, and they still happen.
